Talkin about the thick key thing...do you mean the fob with the push buttons or the actual key itself? Some Ford keys that seem abnormally thick contain a chip that is used as a security measure. That particular vehicle won't start unless the proper key with the proper chip is inserted into the ignition. Here on the west coast of the great white north it'll run ya about $100 to replace one of these type of keys.
Either that, or it's something completely different!

Where in the heck is the trunk release? Either myself and 6 other people where morons or they hid the release leaver very well.
I wanna know too- I have never found one in the 04s I have drooled on either.

My 66 Fastback and my 68 Mustang (long since sold) had a single KEY for the trunk, and they were classics.
Must have something to do with the instant gratification crowd.
We want remote control everything. But that's not enough. We want keyless entry, keyless ignition, and remote buttons for the trunk.
Gimme the B.S. Delete option. I want a motor, tranny, and brakes with some nice sheet metal.

The Mustang on the front grille is an exact replica of the one on the '64 1/2
The trunk release is on the keychain.

Think twice before you jump all over Ford. The current Mustang trunk release is located in the glove box. It's a button that actuates an ELECTRIC switch. Therefore, if the battery goes dead on today's Mustang, the trunk release switch doesn't work either.
The 05 car has the trunk release on the keyfob which is STANDARD equipment on all cars. It works as long as you are below 3 mph even if the car is running. Tell me again why it would be more convenient for me to lean over to the passenger side to open the glove box to hit the trunk release button? :bang:

Well, maybe you're out in the garage, and your keys are not. Perhaps you'd like to open the trunk without going inside to get your keys. In that case, it'd be nice to have a switch in the glove box or by the driver footwell or something.
I will say one nice BS feature that would be nice is a remote engine starter. That way when I have to go out and defrost my car in the mornings I can just start by remote from my living room
But I do agree... Give me an engine, solid frame wrapped in pretty sheet metal B)

Hey Guys, I found the Remote Trunk Release! All you have to do is reach back, flip the rear seat down, Crawl through the opening, and pull the Glow In The Dark release and Viola'!

I've had my mustang for almost a year now and thanks to this thread I now know where my interior trunk release button is. I've seen it when the glove box was open, but it never dawned on me to push that little white button. DUH!!!

I'd love for that to be in the instruction manual.

For those of you who were at the Vancouver Mustang Stampede after 4pm when they took the 05 down by the river to get some pictures with some of the other cars and saw the blond guy get out of the car, That was me. Unfortunatly I didn't get to drive but the ride was Great!! By the way the Ford rep said and I quote " The GT will start at under $25K (MSRP)." Don't know if that will make anyone feel any better, but there it is. I talked with both of the Ford reps for quite some time, however there was not much more new info.

Gives a little incentive to NOT lose the keychain.

I just got back from the Mustang Stampede that multimediageek had posted earlier. The 05 Mustang is absolutley gorgeus.

Now, I will admit that the new Mustang is a cool car...... but I was not really emotionally moved by it. Could it be that I have been tracking the progress of this car since the first conception photos were released and I'm somewhat let down? Maybe!!
I like the cool sleek lines - but could it be too cool and sleek? The interior is rather austere as well - I'm not sure if I like the brushed aluminum now that I've seen it in person.
One of the reasons I have cooled to the car (at least this year's model) is because it just can not compare to the classic Mustangs we already own. Those cars have character, and their lines make them look really mean!! I realize they don't make cars like they used to - but both my husband and I agree that we are going to wait. Maybe we will wait for a Mach 1 version, or some other kind of SE. It needs scoops or louvers - and it needs to lose that bulbous hood!!
Truth is, I would rather get one of those new Dodge Magnum station wagons over the '05 - I had more of an "ooo ahh" reaction to the Magnum then I did to the new Mustang.
Anyways, that is my two cents. Don't kill me!!!

I made the 429 mile jaunt from Boise to Vancouver to go see the 05. There is not much more I can say about the car that has not already been said.... It's unreal! It's beautiful!! The pictures that have been posted on the site have been super, but none of them do the car justice, I could not stop staring at it! People just went crazy when the car arrived (by police escort), and I am sure I left a little drool behind myself!!!
I am going to post some pics as soon as I download the pic's off my camera!
"I actually got to sit in it too!!!"
Also, hat's off the the Mustangs Unlimited club in Vancouver WA, they put on a heck of a show... talked to a few of the group members, they are top notch, great people!!
Now, all I have to do is figure out when to sell the 04!
