Thumbs down

For those who haven't noticed this, when ordering your 05 without the Shaker 500 or 1000 stereo you will get a standard 4 speaker setup, which means no woofers in the door.

The place where the Shaker woofers would have been is perfectly flat, allowing serious space and easy installation of cool aftermarket woofers, since you will have to remove the doorpanels anyway to replace the cheesy stock speakers.

oh &^%$, so I am screwed for changing out the woofers now. How do you suggest to ad woofers down there, after market style?

You think I could find woofer covers? I have never done something like this?

usually when you buy aftermarket speakers, they come with covers... at least 6x9s or rounds intended for doors. I know the factory speakers are enclosed to produce better sound (bass) and I'll bet that "can" isn't in the door if you don't get the upgraded sysem..... perhaps something to think about bofore you ditch the idea that won't change your payment by but 10 bucks a month. But then again..... money doesn't grow on trees. At least not the ones in my yard.

Drummel tool, just be careful, its really easy, but you have to make sure you have somewhere to actually bolt the new speakers. You can't just hang them off of the plastic.

yeah, but 6.5" or even 8" speakers need to be enclosed some how. They can't just use the volume of the whole door right?

that was the idea of them puting the stock speakers in an enclosure... the inside of the door really doesn't have an accoustic value conducive to the objective here... So.. yeah. I'm just guessing but I'll bet that enclosure isn't there if you forego the shaker 500 or better.
