Angry Bad adhesive on sn197's

So on the early 2005's and possibly some 06 and 07 stangs on the bottom of the doors on the interior (where the door is creased.) You may see something that looks like rust, even the Ford service tech thought it was when he looked at it. The body shop looked at it to begin the rust removale process and said it was just bad adhesive from 3m. The fix was kind of easy for them. Clean the adhsive off the doors using a heat gun, carwash soap, wax remover, etc. Then they reapplied a new 3m adhesive using an injector tip.

I am relieved my baby i still perfect.

I forgot to mention I also talked to my salesman (They know me as the kid who "turned it sideways" Leaving the dealership with my dad watching from inside.) and he had them detail the entire car for me. I'm really pleased with them.

I thought it was rust at first too, but then I realized that the door panels are glued together instead of spot-welded.

They are glued togehter at the bottom and do have spot welds on the sides right above the bottom of the door and along the sides for added security and to give the glue time to set and dry.

Thanks for the info Lou...... Mine has a little bit, but as long as it isn't rust, it doesn't bother me 'cause it's hidden anyway. But I am glad for sure that it isn't rust......

Did they have to re-paint your door panel ?

Any pics of where it is?

Again, it's not rust so it's not as bad, but is the glue still strong ?

They did not have to repaint just touch up a small area about the size of a pin so no biggy (I didnt even notice till they pointed out, they just removed the old glue and used new glue, so the glue is still strong, they told me it was more or less to prevent things from getting into the door to prevent rust since it is folded over and spot welded on the sides its not going to come apart.

pictures to come later today.
