last night I was nosing around a Ford dealer, they had several V6s and a GT, I noticed they were recent production and that the rear axles look different then my '05 GT built end of March

they have a solid cast iron damper mounted to each inboard lower control arm mount at axle (about 3x4" looks like at least a pound each)

I have seen in past on Ford cars a dampner mounted to the center diff. but never on the outer end of the axle like this, this must be the transmission point of the gear noise they are trying to cancel out or outer bearing noise??

also under all the Verts they have a very stout looking boxed V brace going from spare tire well below axle to each side of rocker panel under doors spread out over a distance, they had verticle bars from brace going up to floor around the axle area. Very nice Ford! wonder if this will retro fit on coupes? if even needed?

There is a technical service bulletin for installing those dampers. I got that done on mine. It seems to have quieted the rearend down a little bit, but not much. There's still a little whine at highway speeds, not extremely loud though.
