Ok, so about a week ago I noticed that the red dot that goes with the shifter stopped moving all the way up to park. It would just sit next to the "R" even if the car was in park.
Anyway, today I was driving, and when I got back, I went to put in in park and had abotu a 15 minute struggle with the car because the actual shifter was going all the way up to park, but the car wasn't responding. The red indicator dot just sat next to the "D'. Long story short, I ended up basically punching the shifter into place, which gave me these results ...

Any ideas as to what the heck happened here? I have an appointment set up for tomorrow. The car does drive, I but now I have to have the shifter lined up inbetween the "D" and "3" to be in drive, and its still a struggle to get in and out of park ... That whole assembly does pop back into place, but it makes things worse.

I've had that shifter completely apart to apply some felt to the inside to prevent the scratching. Its really not a well built part. The red dot is part of a thin clear plastic runner that moves along with the shifter. I ended up placing a little bit of felt to help guide it also. But, Ford should replace it with a new on for you. Hopefully, they redesign it in the next few years. I really wasn't impressed with it. But, that seems to be the trend for me the more I see some of the things Ford did in/on our cars. I hope it works out for you.
