VW and Subaru also have this tranny, as do a lot of cars in the low to mid 30's range.
That's the "higher priced car range" for me

you won't be seeing the manu-matic on the ford or any other add-on, imo...that's exactly what ford wants to stay away from with the mustang. thecost to the manufacturing process to offer the added goodies adds too much to the bottom line and ford, knowing their customers, wants to keep the bottom line as low as possible.
Ford could always make it an option... Doing that means only the people that want the tiptronic drive would pay for it. If they made the tiptronic the standard auto it would increase the cost of the Stang, but as an option.

aside from the actual cost of the option (installation and materiel) the bottom line price on ALL 05's would increase, by a small amount for sure, by offering more options. the more complex and involved (more choices on the option list) it is to manufacture a vehicle the more it will cost on the msrp. another item i would love to see on the option list would be the double racing stripes...that would really set the car off more so, to me anyway, than the spoiler and the rocker panel stripe. jackg 90seville 96k

I'd gladly pony up for this option. I'm pretty sure we'll see it in the future.

My Color works for what it is. It is a great fun way to quickly change your gauge colors. I agree with Kevin that most select shift systems are for yuppies. I've driven at least 10 different vehicles with the feature, and only 1 or 2 were actually good. The rest upshifted automatically once the RPM got too high, which was very confusing especially when I'd go to manually shift a split second after the tranny automatically shifted.

The Mini Cooper, which starts at less than $17,000, has a select shift feature with the automatic (that model starts at around $18,000), but the tranny is CVT so it's pretty worthless, IMO. It was a fun drive, but the novelty wore off rather quickly.

Acuras also use the feature, but the RSX and 3.2TL I drove were so resistant to letting it rev high, I could have just let it stay in auto mode.
