I live in L.A., and have a manual. I commute mostly on freeways in non-rush hour traffic, so the manual works great for me. I feel more connected to the car with a manual, and this manual is so much better than the last generation. The clutch is much lighter, which makes a significant difference.

Although, sometimes when I am stuck in heavy traffic I find myself wanting an auto. Especially since I recently herniated a lumbar disc in my back a month and a half ago, that gives me some problems when I'm stuck in heavy traffic for long periods of time.

I dunno yet if I will order a manual or stick. Where I live there is hills at a lot of stoplights and bumper to bumper traffic, and with my last car that was a manual I got so sick of it. But it is so fun to drive when you get out of town and away from traffic

It has the Auto because it's my wife's car. I would have preferred a Manual.

I tend to drive slower with an auto, which is in my best interests. With a manual I can't help but want to bang a few gears every time I go out. Very rare for me to drive correctly the hole time I'm out with the Cobra.

As far as an Auto-Stick, I had that it the 01 Lincoln LS we leased and we did not like it at all. Only used it about ten times.

We both like our 05 GT a whole lot more than the LS.

I test drove a V6 2005 auto and then immediately test drove a V6 2004 Auto. Couldn't shake the feeling that it really needs to be a manual.

I drive in Houston through terrible traffic and I still want the stick. Just doesn't seem as exciting without it.

As for the GT. I drive too far to work everyday and don't want to pay the insurance. So V6 here I come.

Ordered w/Manual. This will be my first and I always wanted to learn. Been practicing in my friends Isuzu Trooper :drive:, but I still need more experience. It's gonna be so embarassing if I stall my red pony in traffic because the car alone draws so much attention - but that's ok, it's part of the learning process

There are certain thing that you can do with a stick that you cannot do with an automatic. Besides, what would Steve McQueen drive?

Although the new 5 speed auto. is pretty sweet, for me, it's manual all the way. Auto's can eat my exhaust fumes!

Love to wiggle my stick!

However, if Ford were to come up with something like Audi's awesome DSG, I might have to reconsider...nothing like <.1 second shifts.

Manual for me. I've been driving a manual for 15 of the last 20 years and never get tired of it. However, if I spent a lot of time in traffic I would go for the auto. Besides, my wife has driven manual, so she will enjoy it to (in the big empty parking lot).

I never owned a manual before but I knew there was no way I was buying this one with an A/T. So far it is true, manual is much more fun.

Auto for me. After 37 years of driving a stick, I got an auto in my current ride because of Soutern California traffic. I love it, and probably will never have another stick as my daily driver.

For me the manual is more fun to drive. On winding country roads you can keep the rpms up and spin the tires as you accelerate out of the corners. Also enjoy barking the tires going into third. The only downside for me is if I get a call on my cell phone while driving through town. I use my cell rarely so it's not a big issue.

Question for the auto-trans owners: Does your GT bark the tires going into 3rd? I'm sure it would with a shift kit, but what about straight from the factory?

I purchased a GT redfire with a manual. My thought was I could sell it qiuck if I didn't like it. Well I loved it but grew tired of shifting. I had my hot cars with the manuals back in the 60s so shifting was out of my fun system. My son who never has even owned a warm car much less a hot one now drives and loves it. I will order an auto for myself. I can drive in traffic and drink my coffee at the same time plus answering the phone like I currently do in my OLD FARTS Town Car or Explorer and the dog does not set off the alarm or seat belt chime. LOL
