LOL you learned that it's jamming two incompatible terms together right?

A device that stores flow?

Sorry...the Physics Grad in me is trying to get out...

Sweet I'm taking a physics class this summer if I pass it "I gets me degree".

So be prepared for daily questions. j/k

I wanna get one of the Shakers purely for the enclosures that the subs come in.......it'll be easier to save trunk space, so I can swap aftermarket ones easily.

Also for the fact that it runs off a secondary battery.

IT'S ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA TO RUN YOUR AMP OFF A SECONDARY BATTERY. The guys at the stores will say, "Well only if your system has a lot of power."

However, you want it just so your aftermarket amp doesn't mess up your driving battery.

Im going to check the price on the 500... not as much for the better sound system, but for the 6 disk cd/mp3 changer. Will be nice throwing my mp3 cds in there....

I wont be getting the 1000, expecially after seeing the price for it.

Go on with what you were saying...

I'll have to hear the systems. I'm pretty sure I'll be ripping out the stock stereo for an aftermarket system. I haven't heard a stock system yet that I was happy with. Maybe one of the systems in the new Stang will change this opinion.

I will be going to the 1000 system and here is why. When you upgrade you get 2 subs in the rear. The door subs are then placed into "ported enclosures". An extra amp is added for the new subs and different crossovers are used to remove the lower frequencies from the other speakers (usually 78k or 125k area), thus you can play the system a lot louder without distortion. My 97 GT has the Mach460 system and it sounded pretty good, however, no sub so I added one and put capacitors on the other speakers to have a crossover point of 128k. Worked pretty good. All around the 1000 is a decent stereo and should keep me from wanting to add a bigger sub box in the trunk.

I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with the 500. Besides, wouldn't want to damage the subs in the trunk with the stuff I put back there.

You wouldn't damage the subs because they are protected by grills.

Yeah, the 500 is gonna be plenty enough. The 1000 is just excesive, unless you like to ride around your neighborhood making a scene. When you take into account that you pay an extra $1200-$1300 to upgrade to the 1000 from the 500, plus the loss in trunk space, there's no way I'm getting the 1000. Think about it... you sit in a Mustang with the 500, windows shut, and turn it up as loud as your ears can take it... then you sit in a Mustang with the 1000, and do the same. You really think you are gonna be able to tell or feel that much of a difference. Not a $1300 difference, that's for sure. If the 500 isn't enough for some strange reason, I'll spend a few hundred and add an amp and a bass tube, or something.

If the 1000 weren't TONS more I'd consider it when ordering .. But like you said, it's not worth the 1K premium it'll no doubt be.

Plus, I'd never get it loud enough to make a difference anyway.

All the 1000 is, is more bass. And who needs that? There's enough people with that.

Too much bass can crack windows, and loosen bolts to the car.

If the Shaker500/1000 is priced like $2000CDN difference between the Mach 460 and Mach 1000 on the current model, I will not bother for the extra 2 speakers.

Like many have said, I rarely would max out a system like that anyways... why would I want to drown out the sound of a V8?

I thought the door subs on both the 500 and 1000 models came in ported enclosures? Can anybody verify this?

I agree with some posts and disagree with others. The 1000 upgrade is more than just adding 2 speakers. As I said before, the way all of the speakers are crossed over is changed. That is like someone saying why would I upgrade from the 80 watt system to the 500 watt system. For a clearer/cleaner sound, that's why.

Anyway, if the upgrade is around $1500.00 Canadian I would invest $3000.00 and replace the entire system with a 6" screen DVD/MP3 system with a heck of a lot more power and better speakers. My car stereo competition days are over, but I still no a good system when I hear one.

I thought I read some where that the Shaker 1000 had the ported speakers in the front. I may be wrong. It would make sense that the Shaker 500 had them as well.
