Anyone who works at a dealership on here?
I stopped by my local dealership yesterday afternoon to pick up my in-cabin air filter. While there, I decided to mention to the service guys that I had the issue with not being able to fill my gas tank completely the last three times I tried (Pump keeps shutting off as if it is full, regardless of the angle I move it to). While looking into the computer to verify my warranty is still valid, the service guy validates it is, and mentions that my car also has an extended warranty of some kind then qukcly switches screens (before I could see anything on the screen other than the previous owners first name), stating that this warranty is not valid for me since I am not the original owner. Long story short, according to him I already have the newly designed gas tank but they will look at it under warranty if I bring it in.
My question arises from his apparent attempt to prevent me from seeing a possible warranty that I may be able to get transferred to me, and his vague answers to my inquiry after he mentioned it? Was just wondering if there was someone on this site that works at a dealership that I could provide my VIN that would give me an honest answer as to what type of warranty was bought by the original owner (if any at all), and if this would be transferable to me??
TIA

Hey bud, PM me your VIN and I'll let you know what your car has in regards to Extended Coverage. If you bought the car from a dealer, its THEIR responsibilty to see the car has coverage and that you can transfer it for a fee (when we sell a car, we transfer it for free, if the car has one). If they didn't help you and now your having the troubles, shame on them! Let me know and I'll be at work in about an hour and I'll get back to you on your coverage.

If it was a Ford ESP plan the previous owner had the option to either allow a transfer of the warranty to the next owner or cash out what was remaining in the warranty and get some money back. If they chose the latter then it would not be transferable.

Oh. Hm. Well.... that's different. Ignore my previous, except the bit about Jeff being da man.
/still something wrong there... Ford shouldn't show it on the car unless it's still in effect.
//cranky in the am.

Here is the information someone on another forum was able to provide to me when he ran my VIN:
0994 - USA 2006 NEW 60/60,000 P'TRAINCARE W/ROADSIDE
STANDARD DEDUCTIBLE: 100 USD
OWNER NAME: XXXXX XXXXXX
OPTIONS:
EXPIRATION DATE: 11/15/2011
DISTANCE: 60,000
RENTAL: 28 UP TO 10 DAYS
TOWING: 0 USD
CONTRACT SOLD BY: USA 40919
ESP CONTRACT START DATE: 11/15/2006
OWNER OF VEHICLE MUST MATCH OWNER NAME ON OASIS FOR COVERAGE TO APPLY
Not sure at this point if I can get it transferred for a fee, or if all is lost? I gues I need to call FORD unless anyone else has any idea if this last line above means it's not possible to transfer it (I only have 31K on the odometer)?

Go to http://www.fordwarrantys.com/ and look around, try giving them a call and see what they say. Worst they can tell you is no.

Also bud, I would remove the previous owner's name as that's a privacy issue. Its why we can't show service records on trade-ins if there is customer information there (name, address, phone number, etc).
You can transfer it for a fee.
This is for ANYONE who buys ANY pre-owned Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicle, and it happens to have a Ford Extended Service Plan on it. YOU CAN TRANSFER IT. All you need to do, is go to your local Ford dealer, have then run your VIN and see the coverage you have, and for a fee (I believe the fee is $75 right now), the ESP contract will be put in your name!!!

If your unsure if you have an ESP on your car that you purchasesd pre-owned, drop me a PM and I can run your VIN for you and let you know. I'll tell you the coverage, just not the previous owner's name (due to privacy laws).
