To anyone who went to the 40th Anniv. in Nashville
Another question for the folks who went to the 40th Celebration: Was there any talk about the shifter? I know B&M has an ad mentioning that they were the supplier for the '05 Mustang GT, but was it talked about at all? Is there really going to be a B&M Ripper as a stock shifter? An article on the Corral says that the way the Tremec3650 is shifted is changing, unless I read it wrong on this page http://www.corral.net/articles/2005Mustang/Page_02
The Transmission - The new 2005 Mustang continues with the Tremec TR-3650 transmission; however, it uses a different bellhousing to match up to the new engine, and uses a different tailshaft housing to work with the linkage driven shifter that now sits farther back for better ergonomics. The center section remains the same.

As far as i know, it uses the same shifter as previous models, but does have that linkage thing making the shifter sit farther back. I actually saw it sitting on the passenger seat. But im not sure actually what shifter brand they are using.
I am not sure of the exact shifter to be used, but the Team Mustang individuals at Nashville made the following comments about the shifter:
(1) It will be a short throw type like those many individuals install as an after market item.
(2) It will be installed such that it is slightly aft of the shifter in the current car. They indicated the shifter in the current car is forward of the natural reach of ones hand.
(3) One will be able to shift the car with a flick of the wrist while resting ones elbow on the console.
(4) The white, GT, test car at Nashville had the correct production shifter while the redfire GT did not. The shifter installed in the white car was a chrome and leather affair while the shifter in the redfire GT shown was all chrome.
