Well I havent seen anything on this yet so i assume this is a very isolated problem but still worth sharing here. Yesterday I drove my 05 GT to work and everything was fine. At the end of the day when I was about to go home I realized both windows were completely down. I was annoyed but figured myabe I had forgotten or somethiong even though i knew I had not. I did some shopping and when i came back to my car the windows were down. Know I know something is messed up. I drive home and thurn the car off and nothing....but 4 seconds after I open the door the windows go down. I tried this several times and like clockwork after 4 seconds the windows go down. I know the FOB will lower the windows if you hold down the unlock button but this is not the case here. It is at the shop and they have no idea yet. have any of you seen anything like this on the 05 or any other car???? I will post later the fix when the dealership finds the problem.

 

The windows go down a little when the door is adjared, and then when the doors close, the windows go back up. They did this for air pressure reasons. My sisters lexus does the same thing. Pretty cool feature, but if you arn't aware of it, it could freak you out.

I think they are completely rolling down and staying down, not the half-inch drop then back up.

Big difference between a 1/4 inch and all the way down :shock: Sounds like the limit switch isn't making up. I would say it is not sensing the car is off and it uses the same circuitry as the one touch down. If it thinks the car is 'on' then it goes all the way down vice stopping..... Course this is just a guess....

 

No they are going down all the way and I doubt it is the limit switch since it takes 4 seconds after you open the door for this to happen and both doors do it. stinks having to drive my standby....I want my stang back

 

Take both key fobs far away from the car and try it then. I would suspect one of the fobs is emitting a signal to roll them down or it could be an electrical problem in the car itself.

 

Maybe your Mustang is posessed by the ghost of 'Steve McQueen'.......next thing you know, the engine will turn over on it's own. Seriously, I hate when electrical things start happening......because alot of the time they are a bear to try and pinpoint

that's where I'd start too. Or take the batteries out of one, and see if it stop doing it, and then do the same to the other.... at least it will eliminate them as the problem if it doesn't resolve anything.

 

Chuck..perhaps yours windows loose calibration..see the owner manual page 46

Yeah, I think I heard one person say their window rolled all the way down, and it ended up being a calibration thing. It is supposed to be calibrated at the factory, but sometimes it will get messed up and you will need to recalibrate it.

 

I received a call from the dealership a few minutes ago. It does not have anything to do with the FOB but the FOB receiver. Big problem....the part is on nationwide backorder :bang:

But they have bypassed the system, which allows the windows to function normallyb only the FOB function to lower the windows is out for now.

At least I get my Stang back

 

Dang, now my windows are possesed!

I am going to try to recalibrate them as someone suggested. Any info on how to disable the fob yourself? I'll take it to the dealership, but they're closed today and tomorrow I'm taking it to a shop to have gears swapped. If anyone knows of a short term fix it would be most appreciated.

 

I tried recalibrating the windows and that didn't help. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery and that didn't help. I removed the window motor fuses with the windows up, but now the windows wouldn't drop and the door wouldn't close right. I didn't want to force it for obvious reasons.

 

I found a temporary workaround until I can get to the dealer Tuesday. I thought I would post it in case anyone else has this issue.

Leave the ignition on so the windows won't go all the way down when you get out. Open both doors so that they drop the 1/4 inch (otherwise the won't shut right after you pull the fuses), then open the hood and disconnect the battery. Open the high amp fuse panel under the hood and remove the two 30amp window motor fuses (5 & 7 I think). Close the fuse box, reconnect the battery, and viola.

The windows won't go down and there is a little bit of wind noise at 80mph, but it's better than windows that won't stay up.

 

Do you have the have the IUP for the FOB to lower the windows when holding the unlock button down.I have tried holding down the unlock button down but my windows don't go down.

 

Yes, mine go down with the fob. I think it might require the anti-theft though to do that.
