Anyone Have A Child's Car Seat In Their 05?
I'll be getting 05 in a few month and was wondering if anyone has installed infant carseats in the back? my son will be about a year old and i'll need to have a car seat in my new '05.....Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with theirs yet?
I have had my 05GT for about 3 weeks now. I am dreading to have to do that with my daughter. They should have made the car a two seater, because there is hardly any room in the back. My brother has a 03 GT and there is hardly any room in the front seat for me when I got in it (I'm 6"2), now I guess it's the reverse. I have plenty of room in my 05 and there is hardly any room in the back. I have the red leather package, so I can't see myself putting a car seat in the back and scratching it up. Good luck with that. If I didn't have my Taurus and my wife's Escape, I would be hurt.
Have a car seat for my 2 1/2 year old and use it all the time. She loves to go for rides in the car. They make clear plastic protectors to hang on the front seat to protect from little shoes. They also make pads to put under and behind the car seat to keep it from hosing up the back seat and catch all of the droppings. Mine has worked great. Babies R Us has everything you need
PM me if you need pics for how it's done and I'll get some sent to you.

I have two kids. One five and the other close to two. I use a booster seat for the oldest and a full size seat for the younger. Both totally fine. Actually, my oldest son loves it even though there isn't much room in the back. But the kicker is.. I traded in my 04 Expedition for this...
So for the moment this doubles as a family car.. But guess what.... I wouldn't have it any other way
A bit of advice though... Be sure to get the leather.. I've had both and leather is better for small children because it's easier to clean the spills...

Ouch Altoid! I use my Grand Am GT when hauling my son if I can....Our child seat really left some scary indentions in the leather and it worried me....I tried putting a beach towel under it but it just didn't feel as safe that way so I decided not to use it as a baby hauler if I don't have to...Have to agree that the backseat is pretty worthless...I'll probably get the MMR seat delete kit at some point just to cut the weight and allow me to throw items back there that I can't now for fear the leather will get screwed up....

Here's a link to what we use in the wife's explorer:

If you are really worried about hosing up your leather, just get one of these. It works great and will keep the car seat from digging into the leather. They also make fleecy pads that you could put under this for milk/water/juice absorbtion.

And the number one reason I waited to get a car I actually liked until my kids were of decent age...................
Every car I have ever had before has been ruined by spraying juice boxes, car seats, puke and crackers.....This mustang is my new baby, and is kept spotless unless its an extended rainy period.
Its the kids turn to suffer, I suffered for 11 years and 10 months with cars I despised for back seat room.
They both ride in it like one day a week. Thats why schoolbuses were invented. Not to mention there is only like a butt crack worth of room in the back seat. They indeed love it, but hades.......No more babies for me. (thank goodness).
IMO no matter what protection you use- babies throw things- animal crackers ground into the carpet, juice sprayed on the seats...........Can't have a nice car and small children at the same time.- NO matter what you do.

You can, but you have to treat your cars like it's a second job
Seriously though, the wife's explorer still looks very good after 2 1/2 years of the baby. I think the leather and floor mats go a long ways to extending the interiors life. Oh yeah, steam cleaners help too.

From the sounds of things you all have front facing babes now. My son is only a week 1/2 old, so he is back facing. This working for anybody? Its one of the reasons I don't think I could get an 05 any time to soon.
