Anyone else buying used soon, or has bought a used GT?

The '05's are finally dropping in price here, down to below 25k. (Canadian, tax in.) I hope to find one before winter, as I don't want to drive that POS civic another 5 months (I have my '86 Mustang GT to get me through this summer.)
Nice thing is many of these cars have low miles; as long as they're not repos or demos that were bagged to heck and back they usually have the original rubber and very little wear.

Every GT I have seen gets stupid money used. They are very difficult to find as well, especially manuals. When we do get them, they rarely last past the first weekend we have them after reconditioning.
I would watch who you are buying from, its not so much the milage but the type of milage. Are the miles hard driven with a super/turbocharger, or driven by a 70yr old who never hit above 65mph. A dealership is never going to tell you who had it, in all honesty anyway
Where in cdn do you live?
You could always get caa (in b.c. bcaa) to come out and do a inspection (even at dealers lot)...there very good...$130 mem $160 non mem

ps: found a nice private 2005 blue gt only 11,000km (asking 25900) on buy and sell b.c.

My buddy just picked up a Black GT with everything that had 4100 miles on it for $21000.
He called me on the phone to see if I thought it was a good deal and I told him to jump on it before it is gone. By the way it is a manual.

I have only seen a couple of used GT's in my area and they never last long. I always ask about the previous owner, the dealer may not know all the details but they usually remember the age of the owner and some small details. Used 05's never last long though. Good luck finding one as I can understand the need to get rid of the Civic.
I got my GT (made 4/05) used in October 05. I call it "brand used", as it only had 6000 miles on it.
At that time, new GT's were still going for over sticker, if they could be found. This was located in washington, DC, in the start of the winter, and it was a manual, and the dealer had already sat on the car for about 45 days.
Needless to say, they wanted out of the car. After taxes, adding a 6 yr/75 mile warranty, and all other fees, I still ended up well below MSRP, which I think is a marvelous deal considering the fact that used ones were still selling at MSRP (not including all associated fees) at that time.
Just do some searching on the internet (cars.com and autotrader.com). The right car at the right price will come along eventually.

Mustangs are lot lizards here; there's a couple in nearby cities that have been on the lot for almost a year.
Looked at one this weekend the guy was desperate to get me to buy it. Too bad it has non-original tires at low miles (hundreds of burnouts) and the least appealing (to me) paint, interior, and wheels.

I bought a black '06 GT five weeks ago Used... from a Chevy dealership!
They were asking 25K for it, I talked them down to 23K. It had 5K miles on it, so I think I got a good deal by letting the original owner take the initial depreciation hit! I carfaxed it, and the original owner had it for two months before it went to the Virginia Dept of Transportation...
it doesnt say why, but I am curious! Then, a few weeks later it went on auction and ended up down here.

I stole my 05 for under wholesale value. I payed $25K for my 05 Vert GT Premium with 1700miles about 9 months ago. The car still smelled new up untill about 2months ago. Bought it from a private seller and didnt pay a dime of tax. FOGEDABOUTIT. The trick for me was patience. Look in the autotrader or other publications and make some low ball offers. You never know how desprate somone is. I took the extra money I got from the bank and put a Turbo on my baby
I looked on ebay, autotrader, classifieds etc. for weeks & finally I got lucky. I saw my car listed 3 times & "lowered reserve" each time. I ended up winning the auction for 20,000.00. This was back in October when 2005's were going for 23-24K in some ads. Got a 2000.00 set of rim & tires AND the unused stock rims/tires too! You just have to be patient and dilligent.....there are good deals out there.
