Anybody heard the Shaker 1000?
#2
As said in a previous post ... I heard the 1000 at IRP this weekend. No question it puts my Mach460 to shame. Is it worth $1295? Part of me says heck yeah .... the other part of me says ...hhmmmm.
If you like loud music ..then this one is for you .... I was in my pit area and heard the music from acrsoss the paddock .... It certainly caught my attention. When I sat in it, the bass and clarity is unbelieveable. They were playing a Styx CD.

Take that $1,200 and go aftermarket! At least that way you can fully customize your stereo to your tastes, not what Ford thinks you like.
I've said it other threads but the Shaker deck is flat ugly! One of the first things I do after buying my Stang is going to the local audio shop and upgrade the whole system with Infiniti speakers a custom sub setup and some top notch amps

ahhh I may be getting the shaker 1000. I still have to hear it for myself though. The old system was all distorted and had the dumb amp rack that took up the entire trunk.

I am getting the shaker 1000 and plan on replacing the head unit with the new Pioneer GPS system. Just changing the deck alone will give a cleaner signal which will allow the system to go even louder.

The problem with switching out the unit is that the "Shaker" functionality is built into the factory unit. I think you lose that if you switch them out.

By the time you go aftermarket and pay for the install It's gonna be up there in price anyway. I have 3- 10 inch subs in the trunk of my stang now . I have room to fit a jacket . Tht's it! Pain in the **** going grocery shoppin and putting everything in the back seat. I like how they put the 2 ten inch subs in and left plenty of trunk space. I went shaker 1000. No time for fooling around with after market.

Ya, I'm going that route also. Shaker 500 and then the aftermarket.

I will eventually replace the front speakers but I want to leave them in for the time being.
Does anyone know what size speakers are in the front? I imagine there is 2 tweeters 2 smaller mids and 2 larger mids(subs in doors, not real subs though).
I am thinking about getting a JL 450/4 and running the mids in parallel that way every speaker would bet 75 rms.

If I remember correctly, boy it has been a few years since I have done this, you will be able to pick up an aftermarket wiring harness for the stereo. You can then put a potentiometer (spelling?) inline with the speaker wires going to the amp powering the subs in the truck. This gives you control over the subs, yes it's not as pretty as controlling it from the head unit but it does work. If you get creative you can actually set it up to use the sub control from the aftermarket head unit to power the subs in the back. Requires a few more parts and time but it is possible, which is what I will be doing.

gotta watch that, most factory systems require redoing the entire thing to go aftermarket. They have very propriatary things like individual amps on every speaker. You have to redo all the wiring too to make any difference in quality.

Believe me, when I swap out just the deck the sound quality difference is amazing when your deck has built in crossover control and sub gain.

Youve worked with mach systems before? They stink to aftermarket, BIG TIME. I think the speakers were crappy to start with. I still do not think the quality of current aftermarket stereo systems today are as hard-core as they used to be. It all seems weak compared to what we used to do. Its been years since I've been impressed by any of the 'rockin' systems I have seen done by the audiophiles at weekly car meets. :notnice: Its nothing like what it was in the early 90's. I think the if the subs are clear then there is no reason for me to bother with anything more then the stock shaker 1000.
