I just pulled the trigger and ordered one for the 06 from Kevin. Should be here in about two weeks. Man this car is going to send me to the poor house if I don't stop. Will let you know how the install goes when i get it.

What did he quote you for it? I e-mailed him several weeks ago and he never got back to me. I looked at a Nav Unit in another car (Edge?) at a dealer and from what I saw I really want one for my car.

The factory antenna is under the dash pad behind the speedo.

My dad's did come with the Sirius option, so there is an antenna mounted on the trunk lid. It does have the factory antenna on the front passenger fender as well.

This is the best pic I have of the antenna on the trunk lid as my dad drove the car home and lives 800+ miles away.

Yes it plays MP3s from CD, does a much better job with the ID3 tags embedded in the files to display artist and title, also folder and track name. Yes it is touchscreen. It does NOT play DVDs or read MP3s from a DVD-R. Only the lower, single disc drive can read DVD and it is for the nav disc only. The antenna mouts to the underside of the dash pad and 'sees' the sats throught it and the windshield. Worked pretty well, even saw the sats throught my garage roof! I paid $1499 for mine complete through a Visteon dealer in Chicago. He is working with the local Visteon dealer here (services radios at local dealership) to get the programming right for my GT500. Anything else I can tell you?

Mine is back with Visteon trying to program it again. Having some level of difficulty getting it to work in the GT500. We now have a VIN number for a GT500 that has factory nav so are attempting to use the asbuilt data for that car. Will find out next week. For now I am back to the Shaker 500.

I will play a MP3 CD but does NOT play DVD either movie or MP3. A bummer.

One note, the unit for the 07 Mustang will NOT work in an 07 Shelby GT500. Shelby GT is same as Mustang GT. Data stream is differnt and requires different configuration.
This is a great option unless you're looking at collector value as in the case of the Shelby. Anything you do outside of Ford, or SAI, can for some people, reduce the value of the car. By most rules it becomes "modified" so consider the $500 extra, at times, money well spent.

Kevin doesn't like the prices posted. Lets just say it was a little more that some of the prices here, but it will be programmed and ready to install when it arrives. I will not have to visit a dealer for anything. He can even make it work for the Shaker 1000.

I think it's a profound mistake to automatically expect these Shelbys to be collectibles 40 years from now - which is how long you will have to wait even if they do.

Enjoy your car today. Tomorrow may never come at all.

Yes, it is is 6 disc in-dash player.

I don't know the part number off hand, but you can probably find it by asking Kevin.

Anyone that has the unit can you tell me if it has an AUX input? The manual is non committal when it says "some units" will have it. If so can you tell us if it's like the Shakers with the data-port AUX requiring an adaptor or if it has a normal RCA connector?

Thanks!

Not true here. It is Ford. Same as any other Ford supplied dealer sold option or upgrade. The Nav is a factory option as well for the GT500. This is not aftermarket or modified. Heck it is covered under the factory warranty.

Mine was fully programmed and ready to install when I got it as well. For a Mustang. The GT500 is different and Visteon is just getting the upgrade kits together and working the details out. If you buy from Kevin, a ford dealer, you will be getting the same Visteon sourced OEM part I bought from a different dealer, also OEM.

The AUX input is in your center console just like the Shakers for 07. It is a 1/8 mini stereo headphone jack. Yes the nav has procvisions for this AUX input as well as sat radio.
