As a curiosity I like to see photo's of Canadian Bodyside Mouldings on the Mustang, I just not sure how they could pull this off, as a practical matter it would make sense but, I don't see how they could pull it off with out wrecking the design. Do you think we should have the same option?

It's also available in the US, but only as a "fleet" option. So you can't really order it on a single retail order although an accomodating dealer could order it on someones fleet account, then cancel it after delivery and sell it to you.

There was a picture of it in one of the brochures, don't know which. If I remember correctly it was a strip about 1-1/2" wide about mid height on the door. I think it also extended just in front of the door and behind. It is made of the same plastic material as other Ford body side mouldings and is the same color as the body.

I think the general consensus was it spoiled the side lines of the car and therefore is pretty ugly.

Yea i saw one at the dealership. It's just a really thin strip on the door and its a 90 dollar option. I'm not sure if it would do any good because when you look at it from the top it is thinner then bottom bottom styling ridge on the door. I'm pretty sure a door would hit the bottom ridge and not the protective strip. I don't like the look but it's something I would consider because I've had my doors hit many a time and it costs a lot more then 90 dollars to fix. If I end up wanting to take it off in a few months you can just remove it and go on your merry way.

It's ugly, here's one at a local dealer here in Victoria:

And another:

The options seem to be coming in waves. The first batch of '05s had the IUP but no bodyside mouldings and the second wave have no IUP but do have the mouldings. It's the same at both Ford dealers here. Strange. So far, no spoiler delete cars though... that I'm dying to see since I'm this close to ordering an '05 GT but don't particularly like spoilers on cars. Anyone have a pic of a spoiler-less GT?

Thanks for the pictures of the Torch Red with Bullitts. I'm still trying to decide on a colour for mine, and that looks very nice!

I KNOW I don't want those side mouldings! :notnice:

I have been told the spoiler delete is not an option in Canada. I tried to order without, but the dealer said it couldn't be deleted.

Boy, you Canadians keep getting screwed.

No spoiler delete and you have to accept that ugly side molding... If this keeps up you should revolt and admit that you are the 51st state!!! Just kick frenchie Quebec out first. Then we in the states will have better beer without paying extra for an import, and you'll have more options on cars - win win!!!

I think I'm going to test out that strip on a 2005 before I order my 2006. I want to see if it will actually stop a door ding. The strips, painted, are 45 dollars a piece. This is a lot cheaper then having paint professionally filled and dings pulled out. I assume they can be easily pulled off like on my explorer. They take a little away from the look of the car but then again so do door dings and stripped paint. Here is a pic of the passenger side door molding on my 2004 explorer, sure saved my doors a lot of damage. Person that parks next to me at work has problems opening her door without wacking ito my car, drives me absolutely crazy.
As ugly as those look if they save your door they may be worth it in my book. I can always yank them off and have a brand new looking door in a year or two.

There is times in life when you sacrifice beauty for functionality but this appears to be neither, thanks to everyone that pitched in, I was afraid I was missing something.

Although I don't think the bodyside molding "ruins" the car's lines, I agree with the others about it's effectiveness in preventing door dings. They don't extend beyond the lower body line. While they may take a hit from the outer lip of another passenger car, it's SUVs you really have to worry about. Their doors are mounted higher and they've done a number on car's I've owned in the past few years.

On another note, Canadians have some of the best beer and liquor in the world. Even Mike's Hard Lemonade is better there than here in the states; there it's a vodka-based beverage, while here it's malt-based. You get more alcohol for the dollar! :worship: :moose:
