Seriously considering this. Had my hood wrapped matte black on my truck and the waterspots were bad. Does paint do the same ? Also, any ideas on a ballpark figure for having car completely painted matte

Isn't the 'murder look' finished yet?

I hope.

With mate paint you could also get a matte finish clear coat which should help with the water spots as well as protect the matte paint. Im sure it costs more but when it comes to paint id rather spend the money in one big chunk then have to pay seceral times to get it repaired due to fade or damaged finish from the elements.

Thanks for the heads up about the matte clear. Torn between painting 12" stripes or the matte finish but have the glass roof so not sure if stripes will look good

What color is your car now? I have a buddy with a metallic black Charger R/T and he wants to have it wrapped. Most shops in the area quite around $3500 for a complete wrap, $4500 for the jambs and under the hood. Since his car is black he's probably going to skip the jambs. I'm trying to get him to do a matte metallic gunmetal, but he's pretty set on matte black. I think if you go to a shop that uses good vinyl and take care of it, it will hold up. The hot rod black paint is most likely going to be around $5k plus, for a full paint job.

Car is torch red currently so I figured I would need to do jams, under hood, etc so I don't have a 2 color car. That matte gun metal would be awesome. Honestly figured I would be looking close to 8k for an entire paint job so 5 would be so much better

Maybe you should try plasti-dip first to make sure you like the look. You can always remove it if you don't like it.
