Odd? No
Different? No
Mainstream? No
A real American hero? Absolutley.

I'm 43 Sunday and I don't get too much mid-life crisis guff, but my wife and my kids call me the biggest Dork around.

I tell them "no appologies"
I like what I like and it's not illeagal or imoral.

Not odd and not old at all. I'm 45 here and always wanted a fun and fast car.

I've done the economy thing, the SUV thing, the practicle thing, but not the minivan thing (haven't gone that crazy yet ). I don't know if this fits your situation. When you have kids and they're younger, practicalities and responsibilities dictate what type of car you invest in if you don't have the money to just throw at a fun toy like a Stang on the side.

Once the kids are gone or older like mine, then you are not mandated by this in your choices. So you went for it like I did in buying a fun car.

We did the responisble "duty" thing now its time for the "ME" time fun things.

Does this sound like it fits your situation?

I'm 55 and I've waited 30 yrs for the real, good looking, muscle car to come back. I wasn't about to miss out on it. I realize my glory days
are long gone and I know I don't look 21 in this car but I just enjoy this car and yes I admit it I like it when people take a second look at my car.

Simply put, you are never too old to have fun! Do what makes you happy!

Carroll Shelby is about 82 now, so he was just a bit younger than you back in the late 60's. I bet no one ever told him he was acting like a kid!

Just sounds like you have never forgotten how to have fun.
Very well put!! Go out and enjoy your 'stang.

Life is too short not to enjoy your Mustang!!

To a "T"!

TMS should be mandatory reading for anyone who doesn't "get it"!

I moved out on my own at 19 and got married to my current wife a week before I turned 20 and became a Dad at 21.

Alot of kids now drive around in nice cars living at home and that is why they can afford the car they are driving. They don't know responsibility and most don't care. Yes I do know there are many exceptions to this statement and if I offended some sorry it was not directed at you or anyone personally.

It's my turn now and maybe yours also Tom and don't give a hoot what they think

Man I'm starting to sond like my father.

I know I'll probably get flamed for this post but I didn't mean all younger or older people. Just some that don't understand.

I'm going to turn 50 in a few days, and people say I don't act my age. My latest mod of 4.10 gears have people my age shaking their heads and telling me that's what 20 year old kids do. They just don't understand how much fun it is to drive a car like this. Hey, if they are happy driving their SUV's or whatever, fine, just don't tsk tsk me because I want to have some fun in life.

Is anyone else my age experiencing this??
I did the 4.11s in my 66 stang at age 18 and i now run the 1/4 at 13.6 at 103 in my o5 gt, Still going at 59.

Had to go to school when I got out of the Paratroopers and couldn't afford a 66 stang. When I saw the 05, it was like a second chance. Yeah she is sitting in her stable right now all warm and fuzzy waiting on her daddy. And heck yeah she knows who her daddy is. Go Astros.

I hope I'm as cool as you and still driving 'stangs at 50. It's ok in my book - any age can enjoy this car

Why is it everytime someone sees one of us "old geezer" driving a new mustang they think mid-life crisis. We still have the same houses, same wifes, the same jobs, and the same grey hair that we had when everyone thought we were "acting our age". OK, maybe we bought mustang GTs and are modding them to go faster and look meaner. But that isn't a mid-life crisis, we're just having fun because somebody finally made a muscle car again. You want 4:10s? I say LIGHT EM UP GRANDPA!

Hey Tom, I feel the same. I am 56 and until a couple of years ago couldn't afford toys. Now I ride my Harley or Mustang GT and enjoy every minute of it.Who knows how much longer we will be able to do this but for now this is LIVING! Let me know how all your Mods have affected gas mileage when you add the 4:10. Thanks

Well I'm 58 and just bought my first Mustang. I love it and every time I drive it, I feel like a teenager again. I'm sure you've watched the program "Car Crazy" hosted by Barry Meguire. If you have, you've seen people of all ages in the car hobby. So if you always have a young frame of mind you'll stay young at heart and probably live longer. My dad always said that he never felt old until he looked in the mirror. Hey, I say keep that inner child alive and enjoy your car!!

Don't listen to anyone Tom! I just turned 66 last month and am having the time of my life. If this is a mid life crisis, I hope it never ends. I bought a '65 fastback brand new and have been hooked on Stangs ever since.

I don't care what anyone says......it's my life and I'll live it how I want.

P.S. I love it when these kids pull up next to you at the stoplight. The light turns green and you show 'em your tail pipes making all that beautiful music. Life is good.

Tom, @ 50 you have earned the right to do what ever the F you want. Have fun while your still young! I'm right behind you and no one has said anything about mid-life crisis to me, at least not to my face.
