OK, so the Langka came a couple days ago and today the touch up paint arrived today so I gave it a shot. All in all I have to say I am pretty impressed with the results for my first attempt. First let me say that know matter how good the pics look online for the different scratch repair kits it is not a miracle in a bottle and you are still going to see it when you look for it. If you think you wont be able to see were it was I dont think this is the right solution for you and probably anything short of painting the whole panel will do. I am pretty **** about my vehicles and especially the stang but I am not fond of the idea of getting the whole panel repainted. If you can live with 99% of the population not noticing it then this might be your solution to a paint job. OK enough rambling, the first step is to clean the area with the prepaint solution from the kit. This is the kit you get with all the necessary components. I got it from autogeeks.com for about $40.00 but they have it all over.

 

After it is clean and dry you apply your touch up paint. I had to apply about 4 coats to get it built up as the paint tends to shrink as it dries and you are left with a low area. The idea is to get it built up above the level of the paint.

 

The next step after the paint has dried is to use the blob remover with the supplied plastic card and cloth. You apply it to the cloth and rub across the surface until all the high paint is gone and you are left with a level surface.

 

The last step is to apply the paint sealer and then wax if you wish. Here are the pictures of the finished product. Not too bad considering how deep the scratch was. They do recommend for deep scratched to lightly sand the area to make the edges smooth. I can see were this would make the results a little better and even less noticeable but I wasn't ready to attempt using sand paper on the car, I'm not that brave.

See, now didn't I tell you that was better than getting the panel repainted If you get daring, which you just might be, you can hit the area with some 2000 grit wet sandpaper to smooth it down a bit more and then polish the area. I know, you are afraid to use sandpaper but just soak a sheet of 2000 grit sandpaper in some water for 5-10 minutes. Sand down the area and then polish. 2000 grit is not much more aggressive than a heavy cut polish.

Looks great! Langka has done wonders for me on rock chips. the only place it struggled was a huge chip at the forward edge of the roof. I've never been able to get it to smooth out but it looks good enough that most people don't notice it.Glad it worked out for you!

 

Looks pretty dang good! You'll always know it's there, but I think the repair is better than getting the entire panel repainted.....
