most stock systems will do that, if your really worried about it, keep the stock amps and speakers, and just upgrade the head unit. For a couple hudred bucks(canadian) you can have a really nice unit, that will hardly ever skip. aftermarkets are made to play burnt cd's as well as MP3's, when compatible.
most stock systems will do what? skip? I've never noticed that. Besides...this isn't you granny's stock system. this is the Shaker 500 or 1000. The 1000 being a $1300 upgrade. It better not skip. [/b][/quote]
No kidding that's the truth, and I am not shelling out close to $1600 to pay for something that MIGHT skip or change discs every once in a while. I will take the head unit back everytime it does.

Go buy an Alpine, mine plays MP3, CDR's even Memorex with nary an issue, doesn't even skip when I'm offroad in my Bronco. I got one of the best decks made by Alpine, and it was under $500 with a good-guy discount. Flip face, 55x4 amp (not used anyway), 3 sets of pre-outs, etc. For $1600 you can do a lot better than the powercrap 1000 or whatever they call it.

though I do feel a bit suspicious trusting a donkey
The donkey is trustworthy, it's those jacka**es you have to watch out for...
I still like when they take the trip and Lucy is in the airstream trailer the best

According to my dealer, that would delay my order. I wanted to add the wheel locking kit but he said that may push back my order. How do I tell him that he may be wrong?

Try "Dude, you're a moron, everybody on Themustangsource.com knows that isn't true."

no i couldn't do a whole lot better than the shaker 1000. 8 speakers, 2 subs, amps, head unit, accessories... it would cost me more than the shaker. My last system was $3500, and the shaker is ALMOST as good!

My shaker 500 is great. No problems so far. I didn't want the 1000 becuase I didn't want to give up all the trunk space it requires.

Gosh...I don't have my GT yet, but I sure hope I don't end up with one of the lemons out of the bunch of factory stereos. I don't know the ratio of bad vs. good.....but I've got my fingers crossed for mine.

Not to make light of those that do have problems.....

But take things like this with a grain of salt, the proof is in how yours is, not someone else's.

Just buy a set of locking lugnuts at an autoparts store, and save yourself some money...
