All 18" on hold????

I ordred a 2008 GT with the 64E (painted fans) on 8/2/2007. To make a long story short, my order is still on something called 'material hold'. I have no VIN, nothing..

The dealer said that not only were these rims on shortage but ALL 18" rims for 2008 GT's at this point were on hold. So the only way for me to get my order serialized was to just get the stock 17's.

Can anyone confirm this??

Yeah I had a feeling it was bs. I asked him if he could just swap the painted 64 E's they already had on the lot with my order and he said no. Why is this always such a **** journey for these kind of things?

Thats bull...Ford knew they were going to make 08' Mustang GT's and many would want the 18" wheel option. The dealership should make you happy and get the 18" no matter what.

ACtually it is correct. Ford was down to 2% of their stock on the 18" wheels. I was even shown the document from Ford stating that fact. My car was held up from it also.

Well dont think I am happy about that...lol..I thought it sucked also and was BS. Maybe it was because of the massive amounts of 07 orders they got in at the last minute..I dunno, but I do know it was true...stupid, but true.

I may have just missed that then. Got 64Ws and scheduled to build this week. Once they are serialized, they have the parts ready to build, correct?

Speed, its Jeff. Its not BS dude. The commodities restrictions SUCK bigtime. In regards to a GT/CS, they have wheels allocated to that package. Plus with the Shelby GT's, that makes things worse. The numbers are true. At the beginning of the 2008 ordering, it was 12%, now its less. Really stinks. Its like this on the Ford Edges. The Vista Roof is on short supply. They aren't pulling your leg.

Now, Ford does have a program that can get you the "other" 18" wheels that are in the accessory catalog. They are the Maurauder wheels, chrome 18". If you give back the stock 17" wheels, the upgrade isn't much more than the factory price of the 18" wheels (maybe $150 more, I don't know the specifics). You may want to ask your dealer about this. We put these on a Black GT during the summer. Have to say, they look SWEET!!!

Hey Jeff. The wheels you're talking about, aren't those exclusive to the V6 as an 18" upgrade?

In the accessory catalog there are a number of wheels including black and anthracite 18" bullits and the marauders I think.

Or, delete your 18 inch wheel option and get some after market wheels. I went down to Discount Tire and got $100 per for the OEM 17 inch wheels. That brought the total price out the door to $999.00. Not much more then the stock 18 inch wheels........

They even transfered my Tire pressure sensors to the new wheels.....

Something to consider anyways!

They are the ones on the Pony Package, but you can get them as a dealer upgrade.

That's cool, but wouldn't these wheels fall under the shortage as well? The guy told me that all 18" wheels are on hold.

If the dealer bought sets via the sales rep, then technically no. We bought 3 or 4 sets (wheels and tires), so we can swap out the factory bulitts. No waiting for these. These are shipped via the accessory department.
