Aggression towards my Mustang?

Just got my 07 a couple of weeks ago, and I've noticed something odd.

Ever since I've been driving it to work or around, I've noticed an increase in aggressive, rude, or obnoxious driving in my general vicinity, unsually directed at me. Just one example - This morning I'm merging onto I-75 south, rush-hour traffic about 25 mph. I've got a 40 ft space to merge in front of a service van...as I merge, he sees me, floors it and tries to cut me off. After I merge, he's tailgating me, honks a few times, and flips me off as I pull away.

That kind of thing would never happen if I were driving my old beater. People would just kind of ignore my junky car driving on the freeways, but now, it seems like this car has some kind of bullseye on it to attract the idiots.

Maybe jealously is a sad thing.....

IMHO, people will cut and flip anyone off...they don't care what the other person is driving...it's called road rage. I've driven beaters and I've driven my '05...I get cut off, run off the road, and screamed at in both cars...if no one has done any of these things while you wrere driving your beater...im guessing you don't drive it enough, or you have been lucky thus far.

But I do agree...lots of people are jealous. My coworkers ask me about my gas mileage all the time as a joke, but they stop laughing when I'm getting about the same as their boring sedan.

I find WAY too many people are mad to feel 'insecure' by my Stang.....

they get all agressive in plenty of different ways and I find it laughable....

Guys in Dodge Rams seem to have it the worst.......

Is it possible that he was already going that speed when you were trying to merge? Just curious that's all.

I agree
I would like to add that there are a certain amount of guys out there just waiting to attack certain cars.
If I had been driving my delivery truck, I don't think that old Supra turbo would have chased me and passed me in the breakdown lane (on an entrance ramp) as I was enjoying the sunny day. Oh, and I was already over the HIGHWAY speed limit.

I tend to agree, at least in New Jersey. They cut ANYONE off. THAT SAID, I've noticed in the 12 short days I've had my '07, I am constantly run down by... and only run down by... not kidding when I say it's just this one car... the new freakin' Dodge Chargers!

I've had no less than 3 of these goombah's come right up on my bumper then jerk the car in the left lane and pass me. Even the 3.5L models. I just shake my head and laugh. I know it's been less than two weeks, and other makes will do this in the near future, but those Charger nuts have a huge chip on their shoulders, lemme tell ya.

I've noticed that all I have to do is drive moderately on almost any street and all the younger drivers have to speed past to show me that their 10 year old stock Civic can drive 20 mph over the speed limit, all while blowing a cloud of oil smoke out of their 8 inch exhaust tip. Kinda makes you laugh.

Hey Stan, how have you been, it's Jeff from PA. I have to say 1st, your car looks incredible! I'll add to the Chrysler family of cars that the owners are total loop jobs. I was driving along our local highway in PA (Rt 611 for the PA members). It was the local road, not the expressway. I was doing a little over the limit of 50, and a 300C Hemi saw me coming up her passenger side, and proceded to floor it! I just shook my head, and said to myself, I'm not going to bother! Especially, concidering that the local Warrington police station was exactly 30 ft from where we were. I just don't get people, I really don't. When I didn't have my car, I never acted this way towards a really nice car, never! When I had my 1st car over a decade ago, I was the kid who'd always give a thumbs up to any hot, or cool looking car. People nowadays have to grow up and act their age.

In Va we have our fair share of "road rage", etc. There is one thing to remember - the state has a concealed gun permit law and while someone may have more horsepower, the other guy may have more firepower.

The worst and most aggressive drivers I have ever come across are guys who drive minivans. They are pissed because their wife’s clipped their nuts off and forced them into a minivan…

The Dodge Charger is basically a step or two above the minivans. Think about it, its not a "real" sprots car but rather a family car trying to look like a sports car with 4 BIG doors so of course they are pissed off...

Gotta love wussbags with no nuts...

I think I can understand why the dodge charger owners get ouchy when they see us driving our new mustangs...I mean I would be moody if ford made my sports car with 4 doors and the back end of a stratus!!! Plus, they have to know that when it comes down to it we would leave them in the dust everytime!!! I guess that's what you get when all you can say about your "sports" car is "it's got a HEMI!!!!!!"

Thank you. Lucky for me that my guys came thru on the price I wanted to pay for this GT. It's a sweet ride even though my brother went out and bought a 2006 GTO 2 weeks before El Diablo arrived. Hoo Boy. I met him this weekend and we let the pups run free. Lost every time (0-60, 30-80, 5-60, etc.) but had a blast. I'm surprised at how close I kept it with being 100 hp down (but also 400 lbs lighter). Didn't get smoked, but he was noticable quicker.

But in the looks departement? I got new C-6 Corvettes giving me thumbs up on the way home, so I'll have to settle for style and let bubba take the performance categories. Our cars are fast, but you don't realize their limitations until something like a Cavalier with hood scoops kicks yer butt. LOL, we both had a blast.

Jeff, one of these days we gotta hook up and have lunch... keep me in mind. And remember, objects in avatar are "longer" than they appear...

Stan
