After 4-1/2 yrs of wanting and waiting...
I get one helluva reward this friday.
2008 Bullitt GT in black.
I can hardly believe it myself.
When I first wanted a new Mustang, I was a few years out of high school and did not have a profession or trade. I was doing some farming, took some university, kind of bouncing around. I must have just been completing a mathematics course I needed so I could apply to get into a nearby college in the fall of 2004.
So, I later started my Computer Aided Drafting/Computer Aided Manufacturing Engineering Technology (!!) course. Two years of fun and very hard work blew by in a flash, and I graduated with the 80% average I had desired to maintain (Did I mention how much fun I had?
). I scored a job a couple of months before graduation, over the phone, on Easter Sunday 2006.
Went to work. I was actually 26 years old at the time, and still somewhat nieve about the costs of living. Had some student debt to kill. Bought a motorcycle to rip around on (that I had also wanted for some time.) Took a while for me to get up on my feet... I had to buy a winter car (had only my '86 GT and the bus when I was in school!) to get me by until I got my Mustang... figured I'd invest in a 2002 Honda Civic. Ughhhh. Spending a little extra on a late model for better resale kind of backfired on me here. Anyway that's a long story I won't get into.
Two years later, my Dad finds a Black Bullitt at a dealership an hour from my childhood home, 2 hrs from where I currently live and work. Dad really liked the the car. My current cage was running a bit ragged, and I was ready to pull the trigger on a new GT at the local dealership. Heck, I even test drove a VW GTI. Really, it was great...
Dad mentioned the Bullitt to me, and I sort of balked at it, as the payments were higher than I would have liked to see (was looking at leasing a standard GT), but he called the dealership anyway. Turns out Ford has a promo for financing on, and they have taken some money off the MSRP. My dear father even wanted to throw down some extra money for the down payment. I'm in a family of 3, Dad has really helped out my sister (building a house) and brother (renting a house from Dad in a nearby city!) lately, and he tries to keep us all equal. That's what he tells me anyway! He's the greatest man I know.
I'm sure him liking the particular car so much helped as well. He's welcome to the keys anytime he wants. I'll be paying him back at least partially in labour this harvest; taking some of my vacation to spend time on the farm and run the combine.
Anyway, I just felt like hammering out a Mustang story for you folks to read. I haven't been this happy in a very long time. Brings back memories of when I bought my '86 used in 1998, it was the same time of year, I drove it home on a warm summer night with the window down... I'm looking forward to the hour long drive from the dealership to my parents farm on friday, and the subsequent 4 day weekend... wow.

I'll get some pictures of the car at home this weekend!

Gratz! Lookin' forward to seein' the pics! Enjoy it much, and be careful out there!
Now, all you have to do is recreate that Bullitt commercial at your Pop's farm there... Well, at least the track in the cornfield part...

Great story!. Sounds like all of your hard work is really paying off. Congrats on the car,I know you'll love it. Your Dad sounds like a great guy. As a parent myself, I know he's thrilled to help his son get a nice car. Kind of like telling you thank you for doing so well! Nice of you to help out on the farm still.
When "Dad" steps up to the plate and gives you an opportunity like that ,that is way more than love. He realizes your effort to better yourself and that is his reward for raising you.
Now enjoy every mile in that new Stang let the good times roll.

Congrat's. Great story. and you now have the Ultimate Stealth Sleeper. the Black Bullitt. Keep your mods internal, (under the hood, and Interior only). The Stealth (no markings) is what makes the Black Bullitt so different from the HG.
