Advice sought: Door latch cable bad?

Howdy folks.

So today, I had to pull the door panel off to replace the door lock actuator on the left door. Not a huge, a few screws and a couple of panels and tada, panel is almost ready to come off.

Electrics disconnected, and down to the door latch cable... huh.

I removed it and I found this:

I continued my work, got the actuator replaced, and buttoned it back up, no problem, but still.. that's buggin' me.

Of course, I can just run it until it breaks, sure, then I'd know for sure. Probably take years from now, eh? But I was just curious if any of y'all had run across that sort of thing before.

Thanks in advance y'all'n's are the bestests!

Oh she's gonna break someday. Looks like you're down to only a couple wires as it stands now. That would probably make for a nice rainy day project. 'Cause you know it's bad now, and if your luck is like mine it's gonna break at the most inopportune occasion.
