It turns out the Mustang is actually priced well under what i have to spend for a car, and so will have some money to make initial mods. Just looking for semigeneral advice on what mods might be a good idea to do first (and will be available soon). I heard alot of talk of IRS especially, and any advice would be much appreciated. I'm talking a total of around $4000 by the way. Thanks

I don't want to tell you what to do, so I'll just tell you what I'm doing! I think first thing will be smoked windows of course. I don't think I'm gonna get wheels right away because I got the concept wheels and they have grown on me. I will probably get a k&n cold air intake, borla exhaust system, and headers of some sort for my first performance mods (got to get her breathing well before you go throw the big engine mods on B) ). Those will be my first for the money I have to spend, but I think later I might get Brembo brakes (I've always wanted to see those huge rotors behind my wheels!!), definitely some bonspeed delta wheels with BFGoodrich g-force T/A KDWs, a super charger, and probably some other minor engine mods, throttle bodies, etc. I'm not going to mess with the suspension at all. Last of all, if that eleanor kit comes out and it looks like that wallpaper on this site, it will be as good as sold, cause that is tight!!! It'll take me a good while to get it all done, but this is a car I never plan on selling or trading in and it is already amazing!! It's a keeper!!!

If you beef up the engine that much, you better consider some suspension work to beef up the frame. Without stability, the body will flex under that much torque.

The thing is with the suspension is I wouldn't know where to start! I guess there will obviously be some suggested upgrades from steeda, roush, or saleen, but aren't they usually pretty complex? I mean, like not just a few struts, springs, or lowering kits is gonna do it right?

We don't really know how the '05s frame is put together or how it will respond to mods. Companies like Steeda, kenny brown, roush, saleen, sean hyland, etc. will figure this out (probably already working on it). AT minimum, you will probably need things like sub frame connectors and strut tower braces. It doesn't have to be done the day you get the car. Wait until these guys start marketing the products and see what it takes.

I have never mod'd my mustangs, i always left them stock. I did look heavily into doing an '03 Cobra all the way from stock to serialized, fully modified Kenny Brown Cobra S (Sweet Car, All Go with little show). all of the people I talked to, including Kenny himself, dealers and other aftermarket suppliers, recommended frame strengthening of some kind.

I agree. I probably won't do much to mine. But I will wait to see what others have done, and see how it is working for them.

That's one of the great thigns about this site, is all the info/advice available.

I agree on the Eleanor kit for modification. Check out the drawing if this is available it would be the best looking modified Mustang out there.

Thanks for the advice all. Yea I'm thinking about looking at the steeda mods and doing those bassically, but I don't plan on putting a supercharger in for at LEAST 2 years if I do at all, I'm not really looking to ever bring it above 400hp really.

im goin the same thing that NickS said.......get the car breathing 1st before u go dropping big mods into the engine. 1st im putting the intake and exhaust then changing pullys. donno what im gonna do after that im probably gonna look into a high performance engine mod and strengthen the frame. i dont wanna put monster mods in it for a while i wanna get used to the car and the car to get used to me and the streets around here. i also dont plan on trading it in ever but i know its gonna be expensive and im gonna have ford put in some parts for me to keep the warrenty going
