Advice?
Hi,
I'm looking for some advice. We bought our 2005 GT Mustang at Galpin Ford in California. We love the car, thats not the problem. We had a number of dealer installed options (different wheels, navigation system, stripes, tinted windows & ground effects. Well my wife was the one who went down and finalized the deal because I had to work. Well they never gave us any invoice or paperwork concerning the dealer installed items. I have called down to the dealership and talked to a number of different people and everyone seems to give me the run around. All I want is a an invoice showing the original price of the car, what was added, and the total cost after everything was added on. I don't quite understand what the big deal is in getting me an invoice? Who should I talk to? Should I call Ford direct and see if they can take care of the problem.
My second issue is what happen to the stuff taken off the car? The wheels and stereo. Shouldn't that be ours since we paid for it. I think we should get that along with the car. But nothing was mention to me or wife about it.
I never had any problems like this before in buying new cars. I'm hoping someone else has gone through simliar problems and can give me some sound advice on the best way to proceed.
Thanks for any help,
Chris

www.edmunds.com brother.
You can click off the options that are installed from the factory, and it will give you the invoice cost and the MSRP cost of those items.
Now the dealer installed items, I almost promise your taking a raping on...
I would imagine that you should be able to ask for the items replaced with those upgrades, as they are yours (covered in the basic cost of the car). At the very least, I would want to see how much they are charging for what they did install, and would have tried to negotiate based on them keeping the older stuff.
BUT, figuring that your wife closed the deal, it's kinda set in stone now. Good luck.

There should have been a side sticker right next to the main sticker on the window showing the add ons and the price for each add on. In Ohio it is the law to show this sticker. You should have received this when you purchased the car. I always make sure I get these when i get a vehicle. They may have put them in the glove box.
As for the parts that were replaced I fell that you should have gotten them unless they discounted the replacement parts for the value of what was replaced. Then again were talking about a dealership that probably tacked on some hefty price of the car for the add on's so you are probably SOL on that.

Forgot to mention..
I would ask the dealer for the replaced parts.
My cousin had replaced the stereo in his car when he got it. He had the car a month and was killed in it.
When the insurance adjuster wrote the car off as a total loss my aunt had to give him the original stereo that was in the car as it was (he said) part of the value of the car before the accident.
I would also tell them that you need the invoice for the replaced parts, so if by chance the car is totaled for some reason (hopeing and praying this does not happen) you can prove the parts were in the car when you bought it for insurance purposes.

I wonder if your original wheels may have been put onto a v-6 at the dealer. It's possible they "double-dipped". Charged you for the new wheels and took your original ones and placed them onto a v-6 and jacked the price of it by 1k. I would think that anything they removed from the car would belong to you.
