add my car to the list of damaged ponies
Hello All and 'Merry Christmas'
Now for the main reason for this post...
After having my Mustang for just shy of 3 years with no dings or dents my luck finally ran out today so you can add my car to the list of damaged cars.
To make a long story short someone backed into my car at work causing a dent to the passanger side rear fender area. To give a little more detail about the accident, it was the end of the day when we got back to the station (I work for an ambulance service), so I had moved my car and double parked for a few minutes while I parked the ambulance and clocked out for the day, and in those few minutes a guy in a Jeep backed into my car.
He came inside to tell me what happened, we went out and looked at the car and he told me he would pay for the damage (I have all of his contact information), so I guess I'll be getting some estimates for the repairs on Wednesday and hopefully get the car fixed by the 1st of the year.
I know the drill, you all want pictures of the damage. I'll try and take some pictures and post them in the next couple days.

Seriously... hope things work out for ya. And also, I agree... Thanks for doing what you do. Its a hard thankless job, but you are appreciated.
Hey at least this wasn't intentional, and the person owned up to it and was willing to make it right! I know it sucks, and I feel for you, it's the last thing you want to deal with or think about on Christmas, but at least it's going to get fixed, and not on your dime.
Btw, don't tell your insurance company anything if he's going to fix it. I had Progressive insurance and someone sideswiped me, but their insurance settled with me and paid for it (old car, I didn't even have collision on it!). But in the process I called my insurance company to ask how I should proceed with the other insurance company (I did happen to mention that I was at a dead stop and got driven into...), and didn't make a claim of any kind. They raised my rates!!! Even though they had to do absolutely nothing and there was no police report of any kind. I was so honked off when I found out I had new insurance inside a week.

Mike, I'm so sorry to hear about this!! Glad to hear the guy was honest about it and is going to take care of it for you!! I know its a bummer and all, but it'll be as good as new before you know!! Keep up the good work out there!!! John
Hello Everyone-
Thanks for the kind words and support! The damage to the car appears minor and I know that it will be good as new as soon as possible.

<I don't intend to report it to either insurance company at this point since the guy admitted to hitting my car and agreed to pay for the damage>

Today 06:31 AMGlenndid you get a police report?Today 01:07 AMzaghloulIf there is no paint damage it can be easy and cheap to fix
<After looking closer at the car today I saw a chip in the paint so I think it's going to be a little more expensive to fix then I thought, but we'll see what the body shops tell me tomorrow.
I also saw another small crease/dent in front of the rear tire today from the accident>
Yesterday 11:49 PMcrewcutkidHey- at least the guy was honest- I would have been VERY appreciative of that fact.
Hope it gets fixed soon!
<I feel the same way! The guy was honest with me in that he admitted to backing in to my car and says he's going to pay for the damage. Now here are some pictures I took of the car today. What do you guys think the work will end up costing to repair the damage, and how long do you think the work will take? I'm going to get a couple estimates tomorrow after work and call the guy to let him know what the costs will be, and if he agrees to one of them I might have the repairs done before he pays me as I would like to get the car fixed as soon as possible.>

Good Luck with the repairs. Sorry that happened to you. I know how it is trying to take care of something. I hope my luck doesn't run out anytime soon. Knock on wood, no dents or dings here either..
Definitely try PDR first (paintless dent repair)...I've used the same guy for the past 10 years and he has worked some miracles...it can't hurt to check it out. Once the dent is out, they have folks out there that quickly and professionally touch up the paint... this is a much better option than having the entire rear quarter panel re-painted.

I went to three shops on my way home from work and here is what they told me-
1-$986.80
2-$1073.98
3-$1186.28
All of the shops told me the same thing, they would need the car for 5 days to finish the job.
I was thinking about using the paintless dent repair for my car, but when I looked at the damage yesterday I could see the paint chipped so I guess that option is out of the question.
You are very lucky the guy owned up to it. Some jacka$$ hit the rear driver side quarter panel of my old car, while it was parked, and just drove off. It was a pretty big dent and whoever did it, had to know. I was stuck with that ugly dent for about 4 months since I just brought a new house and didn't have an extra $1k to fix. Fortunately, karma worked in my favor and a teenage girl, who's dad happened to own a State Farm branch, backed into me in the exact same spot. They picked up the bill and got it fixed for me immediately with no hassle. The body shop even picked up my car and dropped it off when it was done!
