Active anti-theft...

Is it normal for the active anti-theft to go off with the windows slightly open when someone just walks by? Also, is it normal when it does go off to beep about 10 times, and then stop beeping but continue flashing the lights?

While its totally normal for the horn to stop honking but the parking lights will flash, when its set off, but I haven't ever had my AAT go off just by someone walking by the car. I did have it go off while on a car ferry on the way to Ocean City MD. The rocking set off the inclination alarm (gyro rocked too much). I would try some tests with your car and having the doors locked, and see if it goes off, like it did in the past.

Well it went off a total of 3 times yesterday with someone just walking by, so I guess the motion sensor has a bit more range than just to the window.

The alarm system is very sensitive to motion when the windows are open. The alarm system was built around the idea of allowing drivers to leave their windows down say at the beach on a hot summer day with the alarm tripping if someone puts their arm inside the open window or opens the door. If you do not want the alarm to sound everytime someone walks by your mustang then you have to have the windows completely closed.

Yeah, it's touchy. Supposedly the interior motion sensors are on whether the windows are up or down, but I'm not sure if that's correct.

Either leave the windows up, or install a trunk monkey.

Mine require some intrusion past the edge of the car

Hum...

Both of my 08's actually require some intrusion past the edge of the car.

If the passer by doesn't lean in toward very near the location of where the window should be it does not go off.

It also goes off if someone slips a piece of paper (Flyers) through the top of a slightly cracked window.

My son's 08 pony package v6 has the active system, it came with the safety package. My question is, after spending several hundred dollars for the active system do you have to pay Ford additional big bucks to turn it on and is that a one time payment? What typically are they charging?

TIA

Active anti-theft are interior motion sensors and a tilt sensor (tow away stealing). It should be default on from the factory, not even sure if you can turn it off other than not locking the doors with the remote fob.

You can deactivate your interior motion sensor, by simply not locking the doors with your keyfob. Whenever I'm at local car cruise events, I just leave my doors unlocked and windows completely down.

If you follow these steps, your alarm shouldn't go off, whenever somebody happens to walk by your car. I can also say from personal experience, that my alarm will not go off. Even if I wave my hand inside the door !

I just meant locking one's car at car shows or cruise nights. I don't do it, as I am sitting behind the car most of the time or if I'm not, my club I am with, someone parked next to me always watches out. Plus, if I meet someone who is facinated with my car (or their little kid is) I'll let them sit in the car.

I lock my car at shows due to a bad experience.. I had walked a few rows over to talk to a family friend, someone had let a kid wander by himself. He decided he should try the handle and the only way he didn't smash my door into the Boss 302 next to me was a random show-goer grabbed the door as it swung. I actually saw this from a few rows over.. I think I might have jumped straight over a car or two
