I have it on my 06. In a nutshell there are motion detectors in the map light console above the rearview mirror and tilt sensors somewhere that determine if your car is being jacked-up or towed. The motion detectors will sense movement inside the car after it's set.

The alarm is a 2nd horn different from the normal horn and the system is activated by pushing the lock button on the key fob twice. The horn will chirp. There is no sound made when the car is dis-armed.

Roll down your windows, push the lock button twice, wait a few seconds and then stick your arm inside the car and wave it.

In other words, you can't set it without your car's key fob.

Both those statements are incorrect. The system arms when you lock the doors with the key fob,and it only takes one push. The turn signal lights flash, and it is armed. If you push it twice, the horn honks...but that is only verification that it is actually locked and armed. It only takes one push.

Also, you can arm the system by pushing the lock button on the inside door panel before you close the door.

If you want it armed without the motion sensors and tilt sensors active, lock the pass. door manually by pushing down the lock pin. Then lock the driver door with the key in the door cylinder.

Check out the owners manual, it details all of this for you. Online at https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp
