I drive like my Granny in the rain- only because I do not have TC or ABS and she tends to slide around and lose her rear on me(and has happened at least once each rain storm) if I get on the fun pedal a little too much.

Seriously?

There are a lot of cars without TCS that do just fine. No car I've had before my Mach had it, and I didn't go slip sliding around unless I went crazy. Drive like a normal person, and it won't happen.

Sorry to hear about your accident... good to hear that you learned a lesson from it.

Unfortunately, from your description of the damage, I'm 99.9% sure you bent up your front end. Probably your tire-rods. And if you're hearing a squealing noise from the rear during low speed acceleration, you probably messed the rear up too. If it's tranny/gearing that's been knocked out of position, get your car to a shop or dealer PRONTO.

In any tricky road conditions (--> rain, snow + ice, gravel. Another tricky situation is cold weather + summer tires (they don't reach the optimal temperature needed in order to perform the way they are supposed to when outside temp. is very low)) you simply got to be very smooth and give yourself a bit of leeway in all situations.
Smooth: don't stomp on the gas like you had the devil on your hiney, not even on a straight line...don't stomp on the brakes like a madman (unless it's your only option, for example if you have an obstacle appearing suddenly or you totally overshot a turn, like you could do it at max. 40 mph and you get there at 65 and realise you are pretty much scr.ewed...), especially in a curve...
There is always a moment to have fun when the road is dry, why play with danger ?
Be smart...

Glad your ok thats the main thing!! Never let anyone or anything dictate your actions or emotions!! Once you get behind the wheel of a car you must be in control , you cant let others control you!! Sounds good , but its hard to live by.

I pulled out making a left turn from my work one day, the street is four lanes, dry pavement, so I hit the gas fairly hard to make sure I cleared any trafic coming from my left side, I gave it a little too much gas and the tail end came around side ways a little till I let off the gas. I quickly realized it dosnt take much trottle pressure to get up to speed, 300 horses will get the backend sideways prettty darn quick. I felt both stupid and excited at the same time.

It's axles, and there is only one of them. Bending an axle housing is very doubtful from his description. I've been working on cars for over 10 years.

I just got back from the dealership. the rear axle is bent. he showed me on a lift. as the car was running the axle running in line causes the rotor to rotate unevenly. hence the noise on accelerating and increasing on braking.total cost oil change, alignment, new axle, and labor...$700. they first tried to cover it under warranty for some reason..i didn't even ask..but eventually they said it wouldn't slide unless the axle was actually broken. they had to order the axle and will have it all done tomorrow. I ordered 2 new rims costing me $250. so total otd cost will be around $1000. I thought about going thru insurance but the whole process with them inspecting and covering my aftermarket rims and the dealership, rental car, time, possible insurance premium increase, and that my deductible is $500..i just want to have my car back as soon as I can and having 2 jobs I can't deal with all the insurance stuff.

Oh and kind of off subject to the thread..I saw my firs tungsten today and I have to say I don't like it at all. I think it looks better in pics. The sun was shining directly on it and it had a massive purple hue. I saw the polished 18" bullits and they looked great..just wish they were wider with wider tires but from the side profile they looked sweet.

When I had my '85 GT I put it in a ditch doing about 45-50mph as I was trying to get on the freeway. It had just finished raining and as I shifted from 2-3 the back end snapped out and pointed me across the freeway and a k-rail. I chose the ditch & fortunately had almost no damage (bent the fog light bar). Bottom line, be easy on that gas when the roads are slick. Glad you weren't hurt. Just remember, cars (& parts) can be replaced but people can't-be careful out there!
