even if you didn't crash, who knows how far the rage would have continued for...possibly leading to gunfire and ultimately death...not worth it EVER
glad you learned though and are o.k.

it is my first rwd car. I had a 14.2 second 1/4mile altima before this but that was fwd and all i would do is just have the front tires just keep on spinning..no fishtailing. This is the most powerful car I have had so far and I have definately learned a lesson from this. Thanks for all the replies guys. This can help all us out..That's why I wanted to share the unpleasant experience.here are some pics.

I'm so tired of poo-holes on the road. I just spent a week in Kentucky and I've never seen so much bad driving in my life. There was a large dump truck full of trash and every 5 seconds some thing was flying out! My girlfriend, the passenger, told me to pull up next him and she gave him words. heh I'm also pretty tired of the pieces of tire the big semis leave on the road.

Anyways, you just have to keep a cool head. Is the guy who just cut you off worth losing $20-30 grand and possibly your life?

pic3..oh yeah..I put my stock wheels back on.. I definately need an alignment since my steering wheels is to the left when my car goes straight.one thing i'm puzzeled about... I notice this light sqealing sound from my right side..I think it's my rear end area where I hit the hardest..it only sounds when I accelerate slow and increases when I accellerate and then it goes a way but comes back in certain instances of braking. It is fine on the highway..I only hear it at very low speeds. not thumping just a on and off sqeel that gets quicker as the revolutions of the wheel gets quicker.. brakes are still good..no vibration really..just an annoying squeal. any thoughts?

Sorry to hear about your car and rims. Hopefully, the rest of the suspension is ok and an alignment will take care of it, but it sounds like it could be a little worse.

Most of us have done stupid things that we've luckily gotten away with including me, and at least you've learned from it, but maybe the Tiburon owner saw your mishap it and soiled his pants.
Ok lodom, you got me!!

It happened about a week after I got my car.. I didnt really pay attention to the 7.5 rear-end not being a Trac-Loc.. So I was making a left turn at a stop light.. The ground was alittle damp, so I thought I would be dumb and shift to 2nd gear in the middle of the intersection, and kinda punch it... Well, needless to say, the right rear wheel broke loose, and the car started flippin back and forth, headed straight for the stoplight pole, in front of about 20 other cars stopped at the light.. I finally re-engaged the clutch, and the punk right rear wheel grabbed traction, and I avoided the pole luckily... Afterwards I thought about how much I hate the crap Ford did to V6's by not putting in stock, a Trac Loc 7.5 rear-end...

Anyway, in that situation it wasnt my fault, because if it was posi, it would of looked sweet, gettin alittle sideways in the intersection in front of everyone.. LOL!!!

See what I mean, no matter how much you try and rationalize dumb behavior, the bottom line is its dumb.. Yes we are all guilty of it at some point.. But thats what we come here for.. So we can kinda give confession about our dumb things we do.. Get critisized, but then get a hug afterwards.. LOL!!

Thats really all the original poster wants, just alittle group hug.. Lets all gather round the computer, and give him a huggy hug!! LOL!! Please!!

TCS off + rain + any tire + powerful car = danger in any case, at least for 99.9999999999999999999999999999999 % of the people out there...

And most likely that includes you as well, unless you are a REAL pro (=someone that makes a living racing cars...) and a good one...
Oh so many people out there believe they are mega skilled ... invincible ... and many of them fill up cemeteries ...

now there is a stupid statement

To think anyone has control in a slide, especially when it is wet, is wishfull thinking at best.

Anyways, this is something to keep in mind when driving in the rain. TAKE IT EASY I lost my rearend the other day when downshifting to 3rd. Lukily I didn't hit anything and was able to recover.

Or maybe when racing on the streets?
I can definitely say I'm not an unskilled driver, with more than half a million miles driven in the 11 years since I got my licence, but I have to say these stock tires don't live up to their reputation. I test-drove a '97 550 Maranello on a circuit in Belgium yesterday for a friend who wants to buy it. It had 295/35/19 PZero Rosso tires on it and the car was like on rails, even though it was raining outside. Personally, I'm considering buying GoodYear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires for my Stang. And still drive it carefully when it rains.

Sorry, not meaning to hijack the thread.

I'm going to chime back in again and say my first wreck happened in a posi-trac rear ended Trans AM 24 years ago. I wasn't being stupid, but slid the car into a curb and broke the axle in a dangerous curve in the rain.

A RWD car with a posi-axle combined with a stiff or sporty supspension can give you a false impression that it has more grip than it has when conditions are slippery, and once you loose control, you might as well be on ice. This is why I'm a big fan of stability control. The Corvette's system is excellent and the Mustang really needs one. It would contribute more to safety than the addition than the TPS system Ford is adding for the 07's.

BTW the stang needs to be checked out for your safety. As I suspected, you did more damage than an alignment can fix. You may have bent a rear axle and modified the geometry of some of your front suspension parts.

Good luck!

Before i got the Stang i had an 01 SVT Lightning, you talk about a challenge to drive in the rain. You have to have an extra pair of shorts with you at all times.

I had a squeal when making tight left turns, it turned out to be a outer left bearing, (replaced under warranty) and the noise hasn't come back. Sounds like it might be what your hearing.

well it was raining. i pull out of an autozone on to a street and this tiburon that was behind me at the light speeds up in the rain just to get in front of me to make a left as I was also to make the next left onto a bridge. I road raged and got pissed off. I was behind him on a bridge and when he changed lanes I halfway floored it to get in front of him and my car fishtailed and i hit the curbing of the bridge to my right really hard. I thought I totalled my whole right side. I get out and both my rims are severely scratched and cracked but my bodypanels were all fine. since the curb was low what hit first were my 18x9's..thank goodness they are wider cause if I had my stock rims on my bodypanels would be scratched up. I put my stock bullits on. I need an alignment too. my steering wheel is now pointed to the left when going straight. well I learned a lot today. 1.I'm stupid to road rage, I should of just not got mad and let him go his way 2. I'm stupid to halfway floor it in the rain..3. I'm stupid to have turned tcs off in the rain(habit to turn it off once i get in my car) 3. I thank God that I"m ok and I didn't hit anybody else due to my road rage and stupidity..I was humbled today..I should not let other crazy drivers get to me which turns me into a crazy unsafe driver. I will post pics later..I have to head to work now :bang:
hey, glad things weren't worse. I'm no one to judge you. I've done some pretty stupid things letting my emotions get the best of me. I recently learned a very hard lesson. Anyhow, as long as you learn from the incident, then your cloud has a silver lining.

Peace...

My first thought would be that you bent the backing plate so that it is in contact with the rotor occasionally. Or perhaps you messed up the axle bearing. I would take all of that apart on the side you hit and check it out.

Also, for the rest of you guys saying that the Pirellis suck, uhh, perhaps they do, but this guy wasn't even rolling on Pirellis when he hit the curb.

hard lesson to learn. I am happy to see no one got hurt, and that no one else was involved.

its tough to not let stuff like that get you pissed off. I have lately just convinced myself that people that do that kind of stupid stuff (talking about the tiburon) will in the end at some point get pulled over and heavily ticketed or get into an accident of their own. That lets me move on with life. Even though i am most likely wrong!!

You musta felt like an idiot, I think that is adequate punishment. Plus you prolly should ride it until you get the alignment, couldnt that do damage driving with a crooked wheel?

I got no other choice than to ride this car. I also think it's a rotor touching something problem on my right rear wheel. That rim is the most scratched and cracked one. I took my wheel off and it looks as though the brake caliper is sitting closer to the rotor than the others...but it seems straight and it isn't look..must of been jarred into place when I hit the curb so hard. I hear it when I start accellerating drowns out as i speed up, but any braking i can hear it..definately something is not set right in the area. I bring it in tomorrow and I will update on the damages.
