Well... perhaps I'm too trusting? my own fault, perhaps.

I have a friend who works @ a mercury dealer that told me he could order a GT through the local ford dealer @ x-plan. Now, i know i should have went through the dealer directly... but, i i trusted him to know what he was doing, and really... he didnt have a whole lot to gain by lying to me.

Well, this was back in October.

I called consistently for 4 months trying to get updates, and all i ever got was "Its on hold, spoiler this, IUP that..." Well, now he says he thinks the dealer sold the car, but he can't prove it. So.... I think i have decided to give up.. I dont really think i have it in me to order again. Especially with the timeline they say new orders are going to have...

So, i guess no 05 for me!

Former Future 05 GT owner,
josh

I began to feel that way, too. I had ordered on X-Plan, waited 8 weeks, then was told to expect delivery as late as July. I ended up buying out of stock from another dealer at just below MSRP. I decided I didn't want to wait that long, especially when July would put me right near the buildout date for the '05s. I wanted the car for the spring and summer and decided to pay a premium for it.

My guess is either that dealer did sell your car out from under you or, because you were X-plan, kept moving you to the back of the line so more profitable MSRP (or over) orders got filled first. You can't necessarily blame your friend for that. He may have been lied to as well about your order since he works for another dealer.

There are many GT's listed on ebay. Maybe you can find one there you like. I have never seen such a demand for a normally high production car with very few available. Its really amazing what's going on. I think the V6 is fine and thats what I bought.

Hey Josh- When you are done checking Ebay, check fordvehicles.com and search the inventory for dealers in or near your area. I'm sure that you can find a GT close to what you had ordered. Don't give up!

Josh, sounds to me like he never placed the order. Did you ask for a copy of the DORA? If your order was never placed don't give up because a so called friend didn't do his job. Go back in and place an order so you can have the car for the summer when it is the best time. If you wait any longer you may as well wait until next year.
