From: Upstate New York...BBRRRR.
Thank you...thank you both for inspiring and warm comments on a car that I truly do love.

For almost 44 years this car has appealed to each generation and has encouraged us to do what Ford knew all along...embrace the car, make it our own...make it a member of the family.

I look again at each of the rides you posted, then again at others that have been posted. I am just amazed as to how something that is "just a car" when it leaves the assembly line becomes unique and special when each one meets it's new family.

We beat them, we work them and then we clean them up and love them.
We dress them and take them dancing...we give them reign and let them run...they are mustangs...they set the pace for others to follow and occasionally let them lead.

For allowing others to lead..for awhile..allows us to give them the fleeting feeling of life and the desire to be us...tamers of the myth, riders of the wild pony...the Mustang.

Ok..that was fun.

On the Mach 1 Medallion: It is vinyl from Bob White Decals: http://www.bobwhitedecals.com/Products/2005/05REO.htm
$27.94 delivered.

I really like your cigarette conversion. My plug came from Ebay.

Thanks for letting me share...it feels good!

John,
Where did you get your rocker stripes? I've been looking for a set just like yours.

I got them from a guy on Ebay. My final price was under $30! I thought I would try them and once they got messed up I would have my custom paint shop redo it in paint but 20K+ on them and they still look good...

Here is a link for some that are nearly the same. The only different is they have a round end instead of the pointed end on mine...

http://www.graphic-express.com/k193_...ide_stripe.asp

The Mach 1 logo looks better than the one on mine... but they cost a bit more too.

Hope this helps!

It would be very tough in my opinion for Ford to top the cars that are found on this forum. The '69-'70 Mach 1 and Boss style mustangs found here look better than any of the other current SE models. The Heritage and Parnelli Jones editions are sweet but tooooooo pricey. Someone recently asked me what edition my car was and as a joke I told them it's a S-1970. He wasn't a Mustang guy so he gave me a blank stare then a thumbs up but I am sure he didn't get it.

I wonder if anyone will reproduce the panel that the 1970 Mach 1 had going down the bottom side of the car for the S197? It was black with chrome ribs that started behind the front wheelwell and traveled across the door and ended in front of the rear wheelwell. The chrome ribs are hard to see in the pic. Here is a pic of the panel. I would rather have one of them than a black rocker stripe.

Very good thread. I'm wanting to see a Vapor Boss, I'm thinking with Alloy stipes.

Yeah, me too but what you gonna do??

I have really thought that I may have my paint buddy do a "blackout" on the side like that and incorporate the Mach 1 logo in it. Not sure but thought has been brewing in my thick head...

I guess I will wait a while longer. As soon as I decide to either paint or buy a graphic someone will make one and I will be ****ed.

I doubt it will happen as the price would probably be high & I don't think that sales would defray the cost of tooling.

BTW, our goal when designing the rocker stripes for our "tribute" was to try to simulate the '70 finned panels (without just copying the late model Mach 1 style stripes).

I personally don't want anything to say Mach 1. I just want to copy the general style of the 1970 car. I might go with the stripe someday. My car needs something on the side. Nice car btw.

Thanks! We also didn't want to put "Mach 1" on the car...just borrowed the styling cues from the '70 Mach.
