If you go Shaker 500, you get 6 speakers -- 2 subs on the doors, 2 reg. speakers on the doors, and two combo speakers on the rear dash.

Now, if you go Shaker 1000 -- all speakers prev. mentioned PLUS large sub in the trunk, and two mystery speakers no one is able to locate yet... either the sub counts as two speakers and there's a center chanel in the car --- OR --- perhaps there are speakers by the side mirrors built into each door as per the 99-04 generation with Mach systems???

Obviously, any system with double the power is better (used wisely of course, and not blaring Eminem down my street at 3AM).

hmmm i'm just wondering if i'm really going to get all the BANG for my BUCK with the 1000 watt- i wonder if it's just a marketing thing where it doesnt really sound any better than the 500 but you think it does cuz it says 1000 watt... and there's subs in the back.... i dont want to make a wrong decision and spend too much money when i wont be happy with it....

Actually with the 1000 there are two subs in the trunk and one unknown speaker location. My personal opinion is that the 1000 will indeed be better than the 500. But as any hard core audio guy will tell you, aftermarket is always better than factory. It just depends on how much quality and volume is really enough for you personally.

I have ordered my 05 with the 1000. I think it'll be more than enough for me and that I'll be quite happy with it. My husband, however, feels that it is required to spend thousands of dollars getting a top-notch stereo in his Jetta. I have no doubt that his system sounds much better than mine will when it comes in, but I don't need that much!

Good luck in your decision!

Hehehe yeah... to be honest, for a short while, my husband was more excited about the 05 than I was. That changed really quickly!

Good thing you don't really know anyone here, because a lot of people would argue that statement.

Just curious if anyone knows if there will be an opportunity with the Shaker systems to add an aftermarket Sirius or XM radio to it?

I know it was asked before on the boards, but I cant seem to find it.

I asked that a few days ago, but honestly, there is no *printed* statement from Ford regarding this just yet. If you build a Mustang on their Web site and add the Mach audio system, it says it DOES have satellite radio capability, so I am guessing yeah, one can listen to 99 Luftwaffe Balloons (or whatever!!) from the east to the west coast on the 2005 Mustang as well.

I bet the shaker 1000 will be a pretty penny, but I would get the shaker 500. Then maybe put one of those Bazooka NOS subs for the back.

The trunk is already small enough. I don't want to loose any space to a speaker.

the ones in the trunk are 2 x 10" speakers. i can only guess that what's in the back dash is 6x9's. the subs in the doors, probably 4's or 6's. not sure where the rest are, so i can't really make a guess.

Trunk space won't be a problem (see pic). I have heard the 1000, it really thumps. I have never heard a factory system with that much bass. It may be more than I need, I'll have to see how much it costs.

Has anyone actually seen 2 speakers in the trunk enclosure or documentation directly referencing 2 subs? The reason I ask is that the enclosure in the picture above could very well house 1 sub and 1 passive radiator. That would leave 2 unknown speakers elsewhere in the car and would most likely mean they are high-mount tweeters a la 460-style.

Just curious.

i personaly am going for the 1000 system just as long as i can afford it. but in that pic it does look like the trunk was cut down a lot to fit that box in there. but in my car i have now (wont say bc i dont want to get flamed) i have a box with 2 tens and there is no space at all in there so anything is better than what i have now.
