40th Anniversary
I went shopping for christmas ornaments last night and I found one of the 05 concept, but on the back of the box it said it was a 2004 and the car was hanging from a 40th Anniversary emblem. My husband said the new Snap On toolbox has a picture of the 05 and it says 40th Anniversary. We thought the 04 models were the 40th so how is the 05 a 40th anniversary too? Is it just the way the model years run? We are confused.
LOL it's just wishful thinking I guess. Since it still is technically within the 40th year (or wait, I guess it's the 41st, but that birthday hasn't come yet), I guess they're still trading on it being the 40th.
Originally, they wanted to release the '05 in '04 for the 40th anniversary, but it was delayed. Maybe the ornament people made all those ornaments in anticipation of it being released in '04, but since it wasn't...now they're getting their stock out.

The first Mustangs were sold on April 17, 1964. Enthusiasts have referred to these early cars as model year 1964 1/2. However, Ford referred to all these cars as model year 1965.
Fast-forward 40 years. Ford released 40th Anniversary Special Edition Mustangs for the 2004 model year. These are the official 40th Anniversary cars.
A coupe and convertible 2005 GT concept cars were unveiled January 2003 at the Detroit Auto Show. However, it is interesting to note that the GTR concept car unveiled in 2004 had graphics on its side celebrating the 40th Anniversary.
Since Ford referred to all early 1964 1/2 as 1965 models, it is easy to see why a 2005 car can also be referred to as a 40th Anniversary car.

[/b][/quote]hey bluestangvert where did you get that model of the Mustang I? or is that just a pic u found
Technically there were no 64.5 Mustangs. Ford considered the car a 1965 model. The 64.5 designation came about, by the owners, as a way to differentiate the early production 65 models (April 17th ~ Sept) from the regular 65 model production. The main difference between the 64.5 and the 65 is that they had a generator instead of an alternator. If you can find an original title you will find the car registered as a 65. So while the ainnv date is April 17th 1964, technicaly the 05's would be the 40th ainnv cars. Confusing isn't it.
I agree with bee bop. I'm sure the choice to make the 04 the forty-year anniversary car was a marketing ploy to sell last year before the change cars. But technically the 65 were the first Mustang so the 2005 are the 40th anniversary model. I feel if any 05 owners wanted 40 anniversaries budging it would be 100% correct. What do you think?
