Got mine 11/22/04 from Dale Jarrett Ford (outside Charlotte, NC). Changed oil at 1500 and had my 3000 mile check done.

Problems:
I had a bolt break on my panhard rod mount after 800 miles (took 4 days to get parts and fix)....and no, I wasn't ******* it, I was backing up at 5mph when it broke.

Passengar seat belt ratchet would "Lock" all the time at 1700 miles. Replaced internal ratchet.

Squeaking passengar seat at about same time. Fixed with seat belt.

Shaker 1000...every so often it will spit my MP3 disks out as unreadable...hit load and it eats it and works fine. Killer stero though!!!!!!

I have had none of the other listed problems yet. (Gas filling, engine coil packs, sqeaks when turning, front end sounds,....etc)

Positives:
Still the hottest looking car made....always getting comments.

Since I went over 1000 miles my gas mileage has been steadily increasing. At 1000 and less it was in the 13-14 range (both city and hwy) at almost 4000 miles I routinely get 18-20 mpg in combined driving.

This is everything I have hoped for and more....tightest mustang I have ever driven. Very nimble and fast. Drives and steers like a much bigger car....very forgiving.

All-in-All.....I would say it was a very good purchase.

If I may ask, how did you drive it during the 'break in' period?

 

Total agreement with you Jay! Best looking ride on the road!

I have the gas fill issue, but only at certain stations! :scratch:

I get the pooping sound from the front end, but mostly at low speeds while turning on a hill.

My shaker 500 skips occasionally on bumpy roads, other that that it works fine.

And... nothing has broken yet (knock on wood)


All in all, I am very satisfied with my car and always look forward to getting behind the wheel!

 

I would say I babied it....from what I read on here. I didn't rev it and dump the clutch if that's what you mean. I have to drive highway and city roads to/from work everyday. So it got 10 mins of solid 65-70mph, then 10 mins of 35-45 mph with traffic lights. I actually didn't try to "get a wheel" (as we say in my area) until I had 1500 miles on it. Left church accelerating smoothly and power-shifted 2nd....very satisfying chirp. That's about the extent of my need for speed.

I did have the oil replaced by the dealer at 1500 miles and again at my 3000 mile checkup. The dealer did not reccomendt synthetic till my next change. He has heard all the arguments but still believed you need the detergent effect for over 3000 miles. Since I have never had a car that used synthetic I am going with him for now.

I'm about in the same situation as you. Only the only problem I've had is my flat tire. Took the dealership over a week to get me a replacement and they wanted me to LEAVE MY CAR THERE until they got it... heck no. Anyways, I'm 11/20/04 and just a hair under 4800 miles. My "break-in" period was me learning how to drive a stick. I've been averaging 21 mpg since my 3000 mile checkup. And I don't know how to baby it, I'm still learning.
