Haven't actually placed the order yet, but I talked to a guy on the phone and I have a printout from AAA website that says that I can get a 2005 mustang for $300 under invoice just for being a AAA member. Does this sound too good to be true? I joined AAA when I read a post a little while ago about possible "x-plan" pricing for AAA members. But if this 300 under invoice is tru than that would be BETTER than x-plan pricing.

Anyone else have experience with this?

Definitely sounds too good to be true, if that were the case everyone would join AAA. Do you have the URL where you found the info?

Well...it's not valid at all dealers. there are only a select few dealers that seem to have deals for AAA. For example, I live in baltimore but the closest dealer was Virginia.

Also another problem is if they will even let you buy it on the plan. Some dealers decline to let you use it due to limited availibility. I know on my 00 gt i had to go to 4 dealerships to finally get one to let me use the xplan.

Please give the URL of where you found this info..............I have checked the AAA site and find nothing about discount on Mustangs. If this is
true I would like to know, have been member of AAA for the last 10 years. Looking to buy an '05 next summer when the vert comes out. There are other members of this forum that could use this infromation as well.

Well...this is not quite an x-plan. Just similiar pricing. And of course it is up to the dealer, but according to the AAA website and the dealer, the price they are offering is 300 under invoice. I'll keep you guys posted.

OK...go to AAA.com. I think you might need to be logged in. Then click automotive, then click vehicle buying program, then click dealer locator.
Choose Ford and type in your zip. this will list Ford dealers "In Your Area" that have agreements with AAA. Clicking get a quote will give you the opportunity to specify a little details about the car you want and then let you send the request to the dealer. NOTE: 2005 mustang is not listed YET. However I chose 2004 and when the dealer contacted me I told him that what I really wanted was the 2005. He said no problem.

I figured I'd give a little update: I spoke to the dealer on the phone. I emailed him the specs I want. GT Premium Windveil Blue Dark Charcoal, Shaker 1000, & Interior Upgrade Package. And he responded with:

This is to confirm our conversation, I will order the 2005 FORD
MUSTANG, as described by you, the selling price will be guaranteed $300.00 below factory invoice.
Please stop by or mail a check for $500.00 as deposit on the mustang, this will be deducted from the price at time of delivery.

Thanks for allowing us to assist you with your purchase.

I'm sorry, maybe I am a little confused....but why would a dealer want to lose $300 on a complete stranger? Maybe he means $300 under MSRP?

Dealers sell cars at or below invoice all the time. It doesn't mean they are losing money. But with this being a brand new model most people will be glad to pay MSRP. Just trying to pass on some useful info

The dealerships are totally reimbursed by Ford. Same way as when they sell a car on a a plan, xplan;zplan, ect. The dealers lose no money in the deal.

Also not to mention it is a deal with AAA to reduce the price of the car. I'm sure AAA is kicking something back to the dealership for making this available.

Side note... When I went to the AAA website All I got was Buying & Research tools provided by AAA. Clicking on that kicked me out to CarsDirect.com which tries to get cars at or just below invoice.

Dunno if that is also the site where you where taken.

The dealer I ordered mine from is giving me the X-Plan. I'm still trying to figure out what the % difference is between the A plan and the X plan.

First let me note that I am currently not a AAA member, so I can't log in to the site. Which is why I may not be getting it.

But when I go to the AAA website it takes me to aaawa (I'm in Washington and that is the site for the region). I click on "Automotive" and can not find an actual linked called "Vehicle Buying Program"

Hey Stadifer, maybe it is a registered user thing or a regional thing cause when i go to aaa.com it actually takes me to http://www.aaamidatlantic.com/. But just to make sure...after clicking on automotive, there is a section on the right hand side of the page with the heading Automotive. One of the option says

"Vehicle Buying Program
It’s as easy as 1-2-3! No hassle. No haggle. Great price!"

with a button to click that says more.

Looks like it is only available to the mid-atlanatic folks. I clicked the link and did a dealer search for 98661... Closest dealer was 2600 miles away or so :notnice:
