2008 Mustang GT Rail Car Tracking

I ordered my 2008 Grabber GT in Feburary.

Receipt Date: 2/14/2008
Serialize Date: 3/25/2008
Segment Date: 3/25/2008
Sequence Date: 4/8/2008
Blend Date: 4/15/2008
Produced Date: 5/6/2008
Gate Release Date: 5/6/2008
Ship Date: 5/7/2008
Arrival Date:
Sold Date:

I am waiting for it to arrive at the Dealer. I have a rail car # and am tracking it ( it has stalled in ILL for now ) .

Has anyone done this recently? I cannot get the auto ERL that everyone refers to in older posts. I did call the VOPC line 1-800-962-3746 and there was only prompts that connect you to a live Analyst. I was able to get the info I wanted but had to use a sale persons name dealer code and the Vin info. Just curious if any others have ordered and are waiting.

Well until now going to wait weeks for my car. Shipped 5-7-08

ETA is 5-22-08 . This is Flat Rock to Dallas Ft Worth Texas.

Last I heard Ford replaced the Evil Robot Lady with a live call center. I suspect they figured out that end customer were using it instead of the dealers it was intended for.

I figured that is what happend to the auto ERL... It was not hard using the call center. I just needed a sales person name, dealer number and vin. Now is the hard part....waiting on the rail to get to Texas.

I ordered my stang on 2/11 and took delivery last week. Waiting the final week was crazy. The wait is totally worth it in the end.

Yes the wait will be very worth it. Trying to get a grabber orange GT on the lot the way you want it is not easy. I think us who had ordered in Feb had to wait longer. Flat rock shut down 2 times for vacation I believe.

As for now my car was last loaded in Moberly Missouri at 11:45 am 5-13-08. I find it interesting how they ship the cars. They used CN trains to get it through Illinois then they have now switched to Norfolk Southern. The final Destination is a Dealer in Dallas Fort Worth.

For those wanting to track it is a learning process in the beginning. I searched forum after forum and most info was old 2007 info. There is a forum at another website (Blue Oval Forums ) where you can get build info and your window sticker as soon as the car is serialized. The window sticker was all the info I needed to get started on finding out the rail car number. Once your vehicle gets to Ship Date you can call VOPC (1-800-962-3746) to get a Rail car Number (The bottom of your window sticker says "Method of Transport," convoy mean rail car). You must speak to an Analyst to get the rail car number. They may ask you for the following information:

1. Your Dealer Code: Found on your order sheet

2. Your Name: Use your salespersons First and Last name

3. VIN or Order #: (I chose VIN so I don't know what they ask for with the order #)
For VIN: They ask for the first 2 digits (Mustangs are 1Z) and the last 8.

Then once you have the rail car # it is time to track.

Option # 1 http://c01.my.uprr.com/pet/motorVehicleTrace.jsp

Union Pacific does the west coast shipments. (but in my case at this point it will not track) I get : No Information available on Public Trace (Reason:Car not in valid state (AC))

Option # 2 is Norfolk Southern 1-800-635-5768 and it works nice.

You can speak your rail car number or enter it on the dial pad.

Option # 3 CSX - 1-800-235-2352 (this can be tricky) There is a tutorial to listen to.

Here is how to do it. My car number is ETTX710369

On dial pad 3 then 2 , 8 then 1, 8 then 1, 9 then 2 , then # pound. Then it will ask to enter the numbers I enter 710369. Then YOU MUST HIT # Pound (it will start asking to enter another car number BUT JUST hit # pound again )

It seems my car is going to take about 2 weeks to travel from Flat Rock to Dallas Fort Worth. I asked the analyst the ETA to the Dealer when I was getting the Rail Car # and she told me May 22nd . I think it depends on what rail line they use. Mine seems to switch lines. I will give updates.

I forgot option # 4. You could have the sales person do some of this or the dealer. But in my case I like self service.

quick update on what is going on 5-13-08

Currently the rail car is at a yard in Moberly Missouri to leave at 4:30pm on Wednesday May 14th. And to arrive Voltz Missouri on May 15th at 1:30pm . When I did the Voltz search it came up

NS - Voltz Yard ramp
4800 N. Kimball Drive
Kansas City, MO 64161

This is right near the Ford Kansas City plant. I guess from there It will go south. Looking more like I will pickup the GT on 26 or 27th of May

I called this morning and they asked for my dealer code and then for my dealer's P&A code. No idea what that may be but I have never seen anything on any posts about them asking for that. Is that something they just started in the last day or so?

What did you do when they asked? I think they asked the second time about the P&A code when I was trying to get an ETA to Dallas. I just said I was out of the office and needed to give the info to the customer right then. You are calling a call center and if you wait and call back you will most likely get another rep. Your dealer can also give your rail car number. I just didn`t want to have to bug them. But I am sure they would have provided it.

btw my rail car got to the yard were they offload the cars from the rail cars in Mesquite Texas. That is about 30 miles from the dealer. It arrived on Friday at 2:45pm. Dealer is still saying the May 22nd ETA but I hope they can get it hauled over there on Monday. Left Flat Rock on May7th to arrive Dallas on the 16th VIA Kansas City. So 10 Days to Texas

I told her that I was relatively new to the dealer and the sales manager didn't give me that information and I would get it and call back. Don't know if she believed me but I didn't know what else to do at the time. My salesman has been out of the office but will be back this next week so I will get him on the phone and see what he can find out for me. It should, hopefully, be there any day now anyways.
