For your entertainment, my SVTP quote on the subject:
Well the same happened with the GT(40). Some of the first cars got all the money, we sold #11 for about $260. Then, dealers got dilusional with the later ones, loosing over $20,000 a month in value while dealers 'held out' for the big fish. After the must-haves got them, there were over 900 available for sale. I actually had an offer for one and the boss held out at $210k, later selling the car for $175. The GT will eventually settle in to about a $10-15k over sticker selling price, as Ford priced the car correctly. Seeing that FORD needs money as bad as any DEALER, it is a huge blunder by not making as many of these cars as possible. A $40k car car is by no means expensive in most suburbian areas, yet they are going to make too few for demand, dealers will girl of ill repute them, and it will leave a bad taste in everyone's mouth. They will get thier markups on the 2-4 or so each dealer gets rather then selling 20 at msrp. There are no collectable modern cars.
