2007 Mustang Data Tag question

I have a question about the blue data tag inside the drivers door, at the bottom of the sticker is a series of number that begins with 1 then YYYYMMDDXXXX. I know the digits 2 - 9 is the cars build date but I am wondering if anyone knows what the last 4 digits of the number mean.

Thanks

Having looked at many of those stickers, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that it's a sequential number for that build date. Of course, I have no inside knowledge to confirm that.

Thanks for the PDF I added it to my GT/CS Registry website. I was hoping the number was the car number but since the number is only 4 digits I am guess that is not what it is. Thanks for your input.

Could this post be offering a hint about the last four digits?

"Today, rotation # 2156 had..."

I am thinking you are on the right track... the 4 digit number indicates the factory rotation number which tells you the number your car is going down the line. But I can't quite figure out my cars sequence number. My cars rotation number is 8382 and last 6 of the VIN is 229344. So some how you can figure out your cars number by these numbers. All I can say for sure is my car was ahead of schedule since my rotation number is less than the last 4 of the VIN. Reading online cars are grouped together by options, colors etc.

I would agree with your comment about grouping the cars. Take a look at the VIN#'s from that long list I sent you a couple of weeks back. However, I don't see how the rotation number and VIN number are linked. From your registry, it's obvious the cars are built in order of VIN (see #16 for example), but in order by Blend Date. My cars rotation number is 4495 and last 4 of the VIN is 3785, yet my car was built ahead of a number of others others with lower VIN's than mine.

That is the $64,000 question about the rotation vs VIN number. I posted the question on blueovalforums.com to see if I can get a clearer answer. The only thing I can think of is that your car was built in a earlier batch than the rest with a higher rotation number.
