2006 TheMustangSource.com Edition Mustang GT

I have proposed to Town & Country Ford that we team up and create a few TMS Edition Mustangs with some popular appearance, performance, and suspension modifications to offer to enthusiasts. These cars would offer 325 horsepower and a full factory warranty. Since we'd buy the parts in bulk, they wouldn't cost as much as their retail prices and you would finance those parts with the rest of the car.

I just want to get a feel for what you, the 2005+ Mustang owners and enthusiasts, would like to see on these cars. Here are our initial thoughts:

12-20 Deluxe Mustang GTs
75% Coupes
25% Convertibles
Available in Torch Red, Screaming Yellow, Satin Silver, and Tungsten Grey (maybe one Grabber Orange and one Alloy Grey 2007)
Dark Charcoal Interior
Shaker 500
5-Speed Manual Transmission
Cloth or Leather??
IUP or no?
ISAP or no?

Shaker Hood Scoop
Cold Air Intake
Mufflers
Tune
4.10 Gears
Shorty Headers
Shifter
Dampers
Lowering Springs
Sway Bars
Strut Tower Brace
Sequential Turn Signals
Honeycomb Decklid Panel
Lightbar on Convertibles
Quarter Window Louvers on Coupes
Push-Button Start
Side Mirror Inserts
Ducktail Spoiler
Carroll Shelby CS69 or 18" Black Bullitts (see page 4)
TheMustangSource.com Decklid Decal
TMS Radiator Cover

I don't think the TMS name carries much weight as far as a markup is concerned, so you wouldn't be paying a premium for it.

I think that sounds like a really cool idea........my only concern would be the price point. It sounds like you want to add alot of really great stuff but very few dealers make upgrade vehicles for anywhere close to what the individual could do on their own. I commonly see 4000 wheel packages which would retail at 2000 max, and 600 billitt grills and so on. I suppose it would just rely on you getting a good price on the parts, and being able to convice the dealership not to markup the cost to the level many other places do. The trick would be to find out how much it would cost for a person to go out and do it for themselves, and keep it in the same ballpark. Most will understand they need to allow for the convienice of already having it done and keeping the warranty so they will pay a bit more. Though another thought is that if you're doing in the number that you seem to be talking about you may find enough people that really like the idea and will purchase it regaurdless.

What! No blue
Also, how do you plan on tying in the shaker hood to an aftermarket CAI?

I have not seen a shaker in person but I thought it just tubed into the ford airbox with a hole cut in it. Couldn't this be done with an aftermarket CAI with some planning?

The Shaker uses both the air taken in from the scoop and from the driver's wheel well.

So shouldn't it be possible to cut the same size hole in a CAI heatshield? Might need to shorten or lengthen the piping from the scoop to where the ford airbox used to be.

Edit: Reason I'm asking is I talked to a guy who said he lost performance by adding the shaker, I'm more of a "go" kinda guy than "show", but I dig the way the shaker looks. Figure combine the looks of the shaker with the performance of the CAI. Connect the intake tube from the scoop, through the heatshield.

That sounds cool! My personal thoughts are the interior should be leather and it would be interesting to see some color accents rather than all black. If that's too pricey then maybe add headrest wraps like on your project car. I also think the 4.10 gearing is too steep for those of us that spend a lot of time on the freeway Neat idea though! I love the idea of being able to buy a modded car that is fully warrantied.

This sounds awesome! If I hadn't already ordered an 07 GT I'd be interested in this, provided the price was right.

And definately go leather with IUP.

I would recommend leather with IUP also but not the 4.10 gears. I also question the shaker w/ CAI, I still don't see how that is really a workable deal unless the shaker is basically cosmetic.

Also there is a lot of variation in window louvers/scoops. Some look good and some don't so just need to be careful. Same on the rear honeycomb panel, I think I like the painted black panel better.

Last on the rims are they 20" only like the other CS rims? I would not be really comfortable going with 20" rims because I see a lot of posts with issues on them, 18" seems good.

PS - I don't like decals on a car so I'd not be doing the TMS.COM sticker on the back end.

PPS - You have Ford Corporate agreeing to fully warranty these cars at all Ford dealerships or is this just speculation at this point?

These cars would have 18" wheels.

The louvers I had in mind are 3dCarbon's Boy Car louvers.

The TMS decal would easily come off.

These cars would be assembled at Town & Country Ford. Except for the Shaker, the other performance parts will either be Steeda, MRT, or Ford Racing. If they are Ford Racing parts I know they will not void the warranty. I'm sure with Steeda and MRT's relationship with Ford's Mustang engineers that we could work out the same agreement with them.

ok guys, just to clear up a few things regarding the shaker. When the shaker is installed with the stock air box, you actually plug the original opening so the only air that goes through the system is what comes from the scoop.

Second, my point was this. When you want to combine it with a CAI, if you think you are doing anything but connecting the tube to the heatshield, well you are mistaken. The filter would still mainly be pulling hot air from the engine bay since you no longer have a closed system. I was just trying to point out the fact that most people will not like the fact that it is not a true Ram air system if you mix the 2 together.

And yes, there is a good chance you lose HP when using the shaker with the stock system. I run it with a CAI, but when I bring the car to a show, I install the stock intake because it just looks cleaner.

Adrenalin's car is clearly one of the best-looking ones on the site, but I'm trying to choose colors that I feel are most popular among consumers and best contrast with the black shaker and honeycomb trim panel.

I can appreciate not using Vista, but W Blue would allow for constrast.

If you had the cervini B2, B9, or M1 hoods; or the foose hood sold my CDC (a'la 69/70 hood that are built with the CDC shaker in mind) then I think you would have a sharp, distinct, disirable product. My vote would be for a CDC or Cervini B2 ducktail.

Also, for those not interested in a shaker, you could go with the foose or Cervini non scoop version (I'm still waiting for Cervini to confirm that they will sale a non scoop version)

Just my 2 cents.

So besides the decal would there be anything else to distinguish this as a Mustangsource limited edition car? I mean you can buy all the parts seperately..obviously the warrenty is a point but a warrenty does not a limited edition make. Not trying to be a naysayer. Just wondering what if this was parked at a mustang show would make people realize it's special?

These cars would have TMS window decals, a decklid decal, and a Steeda radiator cover with the TMS logo sandblasted into it, just like PSH.

FYI, I'll post this in the other cervini thread but I just talked to Nick at Cervini.

They will sell the non scoop hood for $639. This includes the required extensions (to go along with the longer hood). Not bad IMO. Would look good on a TMS special.

I don't like the wheel options...but I think I could deal with it....can we get a photoshop of one of these?? I would want to have as many of those mods be from Ford Racing as possible as well...oh yeah....how much for one of these bad boys....

Sequential turn signals are illegal aren't they? T&C Ford might not be too keen on that...fyi
