9064 mustang sold in Jan 07. This is 19% below last January sales and is also lower than mustang sales in Jan 05 (10285) and Jan 04 (9906)

My opinion is that the Ford Winter sales event with the incentives dried up some of the demand in January 07. I think this might have been the first sales event with incentives on the GT Mustang.

I went back and compared Dec 06-Jan 07 sales to Dec 05-Jan 06 and Dec 04-Jan 04 sales.

Dec 06-Jan 07:20309
Dec 05-Jan 06: 21434
Dec 04-Jan 04: 23627

So the 2-month average for Dec 06-Jan 07 is 5.5% below last year and 14% below 2 years ago.

I guess this is to be expected on a car that has been out (and essentially unchanged) for over 2 years.

Their sales were also low due to a lack of rental car sales. Ford has decided to stop the onslaught of unloading cars onto rental places. That low sales number is probably a lack of sales of V6 models.

It's a shame, but the sales numbers will come back up. I will attribute slow Mustang sales to both the great incentives of December (though Fords interest rates are not bad right now) and that this car sells best when dry roads, warm weather and girls in Bikinis are more frequently sighted.
