Belive me stangkc, I am crazy about my car. But as long as Ford is represented in NASCAR, its fine. The Mustang really isn't that aerodynamic though...

Hope it does not happen. NASCAR= Non Athletic Sport Centered Around Rednecks. LOL. Just joking but as of now everyone and there cousin seems to drive a Mustang and I am hoping the same will not happen with the 05 Mustang. If the Mustang does replace the Taurus that meens that even more people will purchase a Mustang which I would think it would not help on the value of the car over the years. What do you guys think? Hope I am wrong.

 

The more they sell the more changes they will make! More improvements More Horsepower! More options! What killed the muscle cars? No sales! I realize there were other factors but the better a car sells the better it will get!

 

They use sedans. That's it.

 

A little NASCAR trivia:

On 6 Aug 1971, Bobby Allison won a short track NASCAR Winston Cup race in a 1970 Ford mustang at Bowman-Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, NC.

During that year, NASCAR had six short track Winston Cup races that allowed Cup cars to race head-to-head with smaller Grand American pony cars such as Camaros and Mustangs. Grand American cars won three of those races (2 camaros wins and 1 mustang win).

Although the drivers (Tiny Lund and Bobby Allison) were weren't credited with official victories, NASCAR officially recognizes the two Camaro wins as victories for Chevrolet and the Mustang win as an official win for Ford in the Winston Cup series (now Nextel cup).

Everyone is aware (I hope) that about the only thing stock about a NASCAR "stock" cars is the friggin hood and roof. Not sure it's even those anymore. The days of stock car racing are over. Someone should start a "truly stock" car circuit. You could make a killing. Put the 05 Gt up against the Pontiac GTO or the 07 Camero. Then it would be "stock" car. If they adapt the Mustang to replace the Taurus, it's in nameplate only.

The torino has more in common with the mustang than the taurus! The 80 Thunderbirds were actually FOX bodies like the Earlier Mustangs! I Started this forum as a what If! Things may or may not Change But its's Nice to Dream!who Would have believed that Toyota would be in Nascar Trucks ten years ago! Nascar is about Money and the Fans! If The fans want something and it's a win win scenario for all concerned it could Happin! I appreciate all Debate on this topic ! Have fun with it!

NASCARs routes are from driving high powered sedans, not pony cars. In the 1950s and 1960s, they drove full size Fords like the Fairlane (50s) and Galaxie (60s). The whole sloped coupe thing happened in the late 1960s with the Superbird and Torino. I'm not saying one way is better than another, but right now all of the cars in NASCAR are pretty much FWD V6 sedans .. Intrepid, Monte Carlo, Taurus. All FWD, V6 ..

I don't really want to see a Mustang mock-up in NASCAR either. They'd butcher it, just like the CHARGER in the Dodge camp. I'd rather see Mustangs in a trans am series where they are actually close to STOCK cars and not a tube frame chassis with alluminum pounded around it .. and then some decals slapped on for good measure.

Nope. NOTHING on the "stock" cars is stock anymore. They have a fully-tubed chassis and a V8. The cars use alluminum sheet metal stretched around the caged frame to form the body. The cars are made from the ground up in fab shops, not shipped from Ford ready for racing duty.

To be fair, NASCAR hasn't been centered around rednecks for the past 10 + years. It was at one time, but it's totally not that atmosphere anymore.

 

Any Nascar Fans left?

 

I thought I read somewhere that the official announcement of FUSION's involvement in NASCAR Busch and Nextel Cup series had already been made.
