It's not going to happen, and if it does happen the car will be Mustang in NAME only because the car isn't going to be the right aero to compete. Then you'll end up with some monstrocity like Dodge's new "Charger" .. uggh:



More than likely, the Fusion will be the car running ..

I would personally make it my life goal to beat down anybody who did that.

Agreed That Could Happin! But it would Still Make the 05 That much more Desirable! I would love to See a Paintshop Guru Take an 05 and do a Tasteful 05 Nascar edition! Oh the new DAIMLER Charger Is not Very Pretty to Begin with!

I dunno, I think it would be great if NASCAR adopted the '05....be nice to get even more respect on the street with a car doing well on the Nascar circuit....IF they didn't change the body around too much it would be SWEET! Not a big Nascar fan myself, but the Stang could bring a lot of new interest to Nascar events if the car did well and vice versa on Nascar peeps getting into the Mustang sales craze....It could only be a good thing either way in my mind...guess we'll see what pans out....

If I'm not totally mistaken about a year or 2 ago NASCAR adopted a standard body template for all the cars, regardless of the make/model. The cars are only painted up to resemble the production variants. The Mustang looks nothing like your standard NASCAR vehichle, so these rules would have to be changed which is very unlikely.

While I admit it would be cool, the closest I think you are going to see any nascar drivers to an 05 Mustang is possibly the IROC series ar something of the sorts. Even if they had a NASCAR stang it wouldn't look much like the production car because of the templates it would be required to fit.

I don't believe it could happen because of the aerodynamics of the nose. I would love for it to happen though. Love NASCAR & would love to cheer on a Mustang.

You'll more than likely see the Fusion in NASCAR. The Mustang will be in drag and road racing.

I don't think it has anything to do with rules. At one time, NASCAR would approve several models (not sure if they still do) for competition and the manufacturers would choose which one to campaign based upon a marketing decision. Even if NASCAR were to approve the Mustang, Ford would problably not campaign it (unless it was the only Ford model approved). I highly doubt NASCAR would make the Mustang the only approved model if Ford didn't want them to.

While I think it would be great for Ford and Mustang owners - agree don't think it is going to happen. Besides the current aero package requirments, NASCAR is "near" (two years) in coming out with a revised template which will increase the glass house allowing for more room in the driver's compartment and moving the driver a little bit more towards the center line.

It's not going to happen, I don't know why anybody is kidding themselves. NASCAR has never had pony-type cars in the circuit. The closet they came to pony cars were the muscle cars of the late 60s and early 70s. The Torinos and Superbirds were the closest, and even those weren't lightweight. They were heavy muscle cars.

The torino has more in common with the mustang than the taurus! The 80 Thunderbirds were actually FOX bodies like the Earlier Mustangs! I Started this forum as a what If! Things may or may not Change But its's Nice to Dream!who Would have believed that Toyota would be in Nascar Trucks ten years ago! Nascar is about Money and the Fans! If The fans want something and it's a win win scenario for all concerned it could Happin! I appreciate all Debate on this topic ! Have fun with it!

I'm all for enthusiasm, but write them a letter, but I'd doubt they do it for economic reasons.

Eh, NASCAR racers dont have anything to do with the production cars anyway, ide rather see the stang dominate in something like the trans am races of old.

It would be a heck of lot better to watch an 05 mustang vs a Freeking Taurus! I am not a real big Nascar Nut I just thought this would be a fun topic for Those who are! So i guess anybody that gets excited about the 2005 mustang is rabid huh? Better get a Dog Catcher cause there are a lot of sick Pups in this forum!
