When I placed my order 03/14/05, I had the dealer write on the purchase order not to prep my vehicle until I could inspect and remove any factory documentation for my scrapbook.

Does anyone have any idea the types of documentation (i.e., build sheets, etc) the factory places in the car prior to delivery?

I would appreciate any help.

i hope your dealer was nice about that, mine was all tossed with the exception of the window sticker and the airbag tag hanging from the glove box

i also told them NOT to put on the dealer sticker thing on the trunk...low and behold it was on there

that came off right away as well as the paper dealer plates....haha they dont pay me to advertise

On the plastic seat covers/protectors there is a sticker that has has some weird symbols on it that are instructions for the workers. Do a search for Frankenstein and I'm sure it will come up. (yes, one of the symbols is a pciture of his face)
EDIT: Found the thread...

One unusual piece to get that most people don't even know about is the "Bill of Lading" (sp?) It's the sheet that the dealer signs saying he accepts the car. I'll try to scan mine.
Also, another unusual piece to get is a copy of the actual invoice. It's possible to get the ORIGINAL invoice, but I only got a copy.

Of course a dealer brochure is good to have... along with all the other dealer literature. There was a lot of it since this is a new model.

Don't forget to keep a copy of your DORA, VOC and anything else you can get your hands on.

I haven't looked for a buld sheet, but there was a "Work Order" in the passenger seat when I got the car.

Here are scans of what I have. There's a VIN decal that is usually on the driver's quarter window that I can't find right now.

Where each document was found:
1. Driver's window beside Window Sticker
2. Glove Box
3. Driver's side quarter window
4. Behind driver's sun visor
5. Passenger seat (or glove box)
6. Passenger seat
7. Got from dealer
8. Got from... me.

I also kept, but didn't scan the tags that came on the key rings. Other weird things you can keep are front and rear plastic seat covers, plastic floor mat protectors, plastic covering steering wheel, and the "envelope/pouch" the antenna comes in.

Thanks, StangNut. This information is EXTREMELY HELPFUL, and will help me to know what to look for.

Thanks, again. If anyone has any other information or scans, I would be very appreciative.

Much like Jason I have that except for the antenna pouch, however don't forget the biggie "the window sticker " I had them leave it on the car and removed it myself more as a gift and to make sure it wasn't ripped so I could frame it .It now hangs in my computer room . And get all the pictures you can of the car at the dealer pre, during and after this only comes once so enjoy it!!

Jesus Dude

$36,155 ? For a GT stick?

My sticker was 34 something for a GT vert auto.

When did you buy it? Has the price gone up that much?

Welcome to Canada and add 14% tax on that for the gov. and province of Manitoba.
Lucky me I got this car for 200 dollars over invoice at not at M.R.S.P....so by the time it was all said and done it was 38200 aprox not including the loan .

You're welcome. Even though I'm a documentation freak, for some reason I didn't keep EVERYTHING on this car even though I had the chance since I PDI'd it myself.

I'm surprised no one has posted up a build sheet. Anyone found theirs yet?

Yea that stinks, I paid MSRP and have every option possible on a coupe and the sticker was 30015.

Also just wondering why people keep all this minor crap. I let the dealer prep my car and just kept the window sticker and my order. The rest went in the trash. Does having all this stuff really increase the value years down the road, or is it more of just a "Hey I'm keeping every sticker and piece of plastic that came with the car so I have it" type of thing? I could see if I had the cash to buy one, keep it in shrink wrap in storage, but I like to drive it too much

I look at it this way, if I keep the car "forever" it will be some nice stuff to have down the road. If I don't, it will be some nice stuff for a future owner to have.
With me it comes from my Mustang fever starting with my '65 fastback. When I first got the car 16 years ago the only original piece of paper in the car was the cover of the owner's manual. I would have LOVED to have had all this stuff for the '65!

Not that a Mustang will appreciate the same as a guitar, but older guitars with intact cases and all documentation that came with them (called case candy by collectors) severely increases the value. So saving all of the documentation off of the car may or may not increase value in the future, but it doesn't take up that much storage space and I would rather save it and not need it than need it and not save it ... or somthin like that...

I belive it will add much more value to the car in the long run to have all these items .The cars I have heard about in the news that were for sale had all the documentation from day one .I remember seeing a 25th an. corvette that was never P.D.I ed or driven and was in storage its whole life ..the car looked awsome .

It's just one of those nice to have things. I go to lots of old car shows (flathead V8's -- pre '53 US '54 Canadian), and little things like original paperwork, tools, Ads, etc. properly displayed can really add to your display. I kept all of mine, I don't know if I will have my car in 50 years, but I hope someone does and it would be cool if she still had all of her paperwork. It would be cooler if I still have it.
