How many of you guys that got to drive the 05 so far at the Innovation Drives really got a chance to lay into it and see what the new stang has got? I judge a car not only by its looks, but by how good of a burnout it can do without any use of the brake. I'm talkin rev it up to about 4500rpm, drop the clutch and let it fly, smackin through the gears, layin posi the whole way! woooohooo yeah!! The new stang better get at least 4th gear rubber!!!

WHO IS WITH ME????

Are you out of your mind?

With the stock gears and tires, at redline in 3rd gear you will be going approximately 105 MPH when you shift to 4th gear.

Do you really think you will be spinning the tires @ 105 MPH?

And if you are able to spin the tires @ 105 MPH, please give us your driving techinque to maintain control of the car.

Or are you trying to be the fist person to total his 05 Stang?

Good luck in explaining V10.
Maybe if we give the 05 some 5.XX gears we could do it

well have a time slip contest for stock GT's at the track You are not going to catch 3rd on a stock mustang with 6% more rear bias.

thats no good! well at least i'll be able to use the old brake pedal and get em' good and smokey. i drove a stock 92 LX 5.0, using the brake i could do a burnout in 4th gear before it would stall on me. i was hoping the new mustang would do better. but still, 300 ponies is enough to make enough black trails on the roads!!

All show means less go. While doing a big smokey burnout is an indication that your engine is powerful, and may pump up your ego, it is also an indication that your tires are not doing their job. Sure, a great sound at take off is cool, but even a Civic can bark the tires if shifted the right way. I would much rather have no burnout and better acceleration than smoking tires sitting still. What a waste of rubber...

the way i look at it is simple. its not actually wasting rubber because it helps seal the pavement keeping it free of cracks which eventually lead to potholes. i am doing everyone a favor by keeping the roads safe...haha, j/k.

i guess it comes down to personal preference. some guys like to get traction and go fast, and others (like me) prefer the noise of the sweet sounding 4.6, roaring out the dual exhausts, blowing all the smoke around, while you are swinging the rear of the car ditch to ditch barely on the edge of control. to me that is driving. anyone can hop in a ricer and do 150mph, but the real test is actually using that power that ford has given us to show what it truely can do.

man i am drunk right now

if the tires are spinning the whole time then you wont be going 105 more like 20- 30 mph if its really spinning that good

With the stock 235's on the thing!!!!! I'm sure you can spin them all day long. With the way you talk plan on buying new tires after about 2 months.

I guarantee I'll lay some nice 235-sized marks leaving the dealership the day I pick mine up.

That's fun if you like to drive slow and out of control. Drifting through corners is the slowest way around them. I guess if you like to drive slow, it's fun.

If you want to see the 05 lay down rubber, it lays down over 90' marks in the trilogy video in 2nd gear when it goes up the hill after braking off from the GT
