I've had a 4,6 and 8 a stang is a stang and think about this if it has not been said before but the 05 V6 has more HP than the 94 GT had, I think.

I have a true blue '99 V6 with 17 inch chrome rims and dual exhaust. I get sooo many stares and compliments even from GT owners. Some do smirk when they find out it's a 6. It look sort of like a Roush, but I'm still getting a black '05 Gt. The power of a V8 is one of the main things that attracted me to Mustangs. I'm still enjoying my 6 though. I gotta learn to drive stick before I get my 'o5 :drive:

No one believes my car is a 6 for some reason.
It is...and although its not as powerful as the 8s....its part of the family.

I look down on 6ers the same way I'd look down on v8s who either are posers (misbadging) or acting like idiots.....

Like last night I had a v6 vert tailing me....don't drive like a tool.
What was he trying to prove? I have no idea.

Heck no. No one should "look down" on the six. 200+ horsepower. I had a 95 mustang cobra that had an hp of 235. Plus, a six is the same great looking car as any other 05. And, for those like me, whose car was built in september but never delivered, the six looks darn great!

Hmmm, now that I think about it, my '66 was a six and it was fast enough.
(Hey - it beat Hayhurst's Impala.)
My prejudice is that anyone driving a Mustang is relatively cool. B)

Your sig says it all. "05 owner" Do you like your car? Nothing else matters. Anybody says different, you can laugh as you pass them by at the fuel pump.

Congratulations and welcome

Ditto most of the above. Don't sweat what others think of your personal preference or choice. A 2005 V6 is an awesome car. My first was a 1965 with the 200 c.i. straight six, 3 speed manual. It was plenty peppy for a high school kid back in the early 70s. It wasn't fancy, it wasn't racy, but it was MINE. Until it got stolen from in front our house one July night.

I now have a restored 65 fastback (289 with a 4 bbl), and hope to soon own a 2005 GT. If I can get my local dealer to honor my Xplan, sooner rather than later!!!

Welcome to the Mustang family. It's a great group of people, locally (wherever you are) and nationally.

A V6 with a 5 speed maybe wouldn't be too bad.

On page 122 of Matt DeLorenzo's Mustang, a New Breed of Pony Car, he quotes Ford's Chief Engineer Thai-Tang as saying that the V6 is a real sleeper in the Mustang line.

"The V-6 manual is also a really nice package as far as performance feel" Thai-Tang notes, "The transmission's internals have been changed with more precise machining of the gear set to provide smoother operation."

When equipped with this upgraded Tremec T-5 five-speed manual (ironically, the internals are the same ones that were previously used on the Chevy Camaro), the V-6 can be a hoot to drive. It's fairly quick and predictable like it's GT sibling.

Sounds like it might be worth at least test driving a five speed V6 to see how it is?

I would say mustang owners respect v6 owners as fellow stangers.

However, don't think that you are going to be able to take on GTs because you have a stang ... that will get you in trouble.

There is no shame in owning a V6 Mustang.

The 4.0 is a torquey strong motor that will make you smile.

I personally am likely getting a GT but the V6 is definitley a compotent car. Especially the 2005's, they are the best looking "base" mustangs in the last 30 years in my book.

I currently have a '92 4-banger LX so I look *up* to V6's.
But when the GT gets here I won't look down on V6's.
They're catchin' up to the old 5.0's aren't they?

Hmm...I've always said v6's are wannabe stangs. Not on the forums. Just driving around town. Looks like I need to change the way I think. Apologies to all 6 drivers out there!
watch out buddy. ur still a V6 member lol. nice to see that ur seeing the udda side. i used to be like that too. then i read the article(s) n Mustang Enthusiast about V6 performance n that one super six car. i was stunned. now i see there's a lotta reasons for getting a stang, not all of them performance. so all you sixers, you got my respect for sure. besides when ur in a position where u can barely even afford an old 2.3L stang (like me) a mustang is a mustang...no matter what.

I think a v6 is a more practical car but, I like something with a little morepunch to it. So I went with the gt.

I first owned a 1998 v6. Was Happy to be in the Mustang family having wanted one all of my life! The V6 was the thrill of my life. I did want a V8 however and was fortunate enough to be able to get my dream of the Mach 1 2004 model brand new. But will always remember my V6 fondly! Especially since my brother was rear ended while driving it soon after I got me new car. Nothing wrong with a V6.....it's still a Stang!!! And with the 2005 having even more power then it's even better than ever!
