The stock driveshaft weighs approx 39.5 lbs and is a 2 piece design. There is power transfer loss from the motor to the rear axle in any car, and by switching to the 1 piece aluminum driveshaft you shed 19.5 lbs weight decreasing rotational mass therefore there is less power transfer loss because less work is required to rotate the lighter and more solid 1 piece shaft. The amount of rotations the driveshaft must turn to achieve a full revolution of your rear wheels is determined by what rear end gear ratio you choose. In my case I'm running 3.73 gears with a ford racing differential lock and a supercharger at 11 lbs boost.. With the power bump and higher speeds I wanted to reduce the risk of driveshaft failure.. (150 mph + on the stock 2 piece unit = no bueno, you-tube it for some entertainment). In theory you will also feel a quicker response in acceleration by reducing your rotational mass and decreasing power transfer loss.
