I have never really been a fan of white cars, but saw a white stang in person, posted the pics on here awhile back, it actually looks pretty good in white.

Is it just me or does the 05 looks like is has more sheetmetal from the rear wheel to the bumper? It makes the back end look a little big. At least thats MO.

I think that's one of the ways they shift weight to the rear for better balance.

Looks fine to me. Maybe it only looks strange in comparison to the '04?

Wow..very nice comparo shot, the 05 looks amazing, but i agree with incorrigible, you just HAVE to see these things in person, they're even more beautiful.

I've been saying this ever since the FR-500 was introduced.

I bet SVT wanted to extened the wheelbase for the 03-04 Cobra but got shot down by the bean counters as being too expensive to do.

Bottom line is the SN-95 looks like a hobbie hourse compared to the 05 due to the SN-95's too short wheel base, too long front overhang and too small diameter tires.

The S-197 really looks like an all new coherant design, the SN-95 looks like the best that could be done given the contraints of the old platform.

BTY, I don't hate SN-95s, I own a 2001 GT, it's just that S-197 is SO much better in EVERY way.

What I love the most about the '05 is it looks more "mature" with clean chiselled lines, a great factory stance and a nice roofline.

It isn't much bigger overall, but is just seems that way, even seeing the car in person

This is called the designers doing a great job.

A perfect example of this is the Lincoln LS vs. a Taurus.

Park a Lincoln LS near a Taurus and you would swear that the LS is far larger than the Taurus.

Fact is the LS is 194" long and the Taurus is 197" long.

It's ALL in the styling.

I like the way it looks lower to ground than the 04's, maybe i wont have to lower my 05 (when i get it) to keep it from looking too high from the ground.

Talking about spoiler delete. Since us Canadians can't get that; has anyone heard of the aftermarket company's making a ducktail, with the same bolt pattern as the spoiler?

Its pretty darn low. No need to lower IMO.

What makes a bit of a gap appear on some pics is the fact that the tires are too skinny and end a few inches inside the outside of the fender. It gives the illusion of a gap. I think a set of wider tires will make this car look sweet! And 18's too.

Great picture....since I have ordered the Satin Silver & hopeing for delivery by the end of the month. I haven't seen this color in person so it gives me a pretty good idea of how it will look from a distance.

I totally agree. After the front leaning, overall style of the front end, i'd say my favourite aspect of the 05 is the increased wheelbase/decreased front overhang. Its all about that stance! The pre-05s, as well as the F-bodies, look a bit like tippy toys, with the wheels to close in to the center of the car. It looks much better and more stable with the wheels out to the edges.
Look for this the next time you see an F-body. Ever since i first thought about it, its the first thing i notice on the car, a little less so with the stangs.
I notice it on my parents' Colony Park, too. How much do you think it would cost to move the front axle farther up to the front of the body? A totally practical modification right?

Great pic, but a better pic would be a nose-to-nose shot. That would REALLY show the similarities and differences between the two styles.

And I think the rear end of the '05 looks bigger (the 'more sheetmetal' look) in this picture because the gas filler door is now on the left. The SN95 is obviously on the right, and the door actually breaks up the monotony of the panel. Look at the left side of the '05 and it'll look much shorter.

It's the rear bumper that makes it look a bit big. Just as an experiment, cover over the bumper at the line where it connects to the body with a paper or something. Now look again. Much different and it also gives, IMHO, a complete different stance to the car. So I don't think it's a lot of weight there, just a lot of rubber bumper.

And in the shot, the '04s rear is partially hidden behind the nose of the '05.

Since it's already been brought up, I googled up some pics on the Lincoln LS last night 'cause since we don't have them here I was curious as to what the Stangs "cousins" look like. Talk about hiney! It looks good from front to B pillar, then it looks like the designers got tired. The whole rear section looks like someone chopped it off a Wartburg 353 and bolted it to the LS. With that roofline, the rear wheels are FAR too way rear and it still has about 2000 pounds of overhang behind the wheel wells. They should really have taken a glance at the German carmakers on how to make a good-looking rear. Why is the trunklid line so low?

Oops, a bit offtopic maybe.
