I found this post on stangnet from a guy who has a relative on the AAI launch team. He says that they will be building 44000 mustangs from Sept 7 to Dec 31

There are only about 5000 dealerships I believe, that may even include Merc.

I think it's closer to 3800, without the Mercs.

So in that post where it says that there are 10,000 dealerships...That information is not correct?
Is there any way to find out how many dealerships there are?

Even if the dealership number is 3800 or 6000, then that only equals 7-11 cars per dealer until after January. That is not a lot of cars considering the variations and packages being offered.

I would bet that supply will be in short demand if the reviews are good, otherwise it will probably sell about the same number as the previous years.

Indeed, this is the same number I heard a couple of weeks ago in a town hall meeting that management had with all employees.

It'll definately be a challenge to meet that, but I think us AAI employees are up to that challenge.

Currently, the second shift is in place, however, it is a staggered shift. Meaning, A shift comes in at normal time and works until 11:00 At that point, B shift takes over and builds to the targeted number, and leaves at like 7:30. I hear speculation that they many actually begin having two actual full shifts here in the very near future. We wern't supposed to begin that until Sept 7th, but it sounds like they really want to ramp up Mazda inventory before Mustang Job #1, and they may move that date forward.

I guess they stagger them so that both shifts get aquainted with the Mustang Build am I right? Or does it also have something to do with the union....ie. if you have two shifts, you have to use both?

Just curious.

They do that so that people can cross train each other on their jobs. The older crowd is A shift, and the new crowd is B shift (for the most part) and the older people train the new people. The old people build from the start of shift till 10:30, then the new guys take over from 11:00 on, while the old people train the new ones, and so on and so forth. This is only temporary. Sept 7th all shifts separate, and will each build a full 8 hrs (We'll eventually be on 10 hr shifts, as long as the demand is there).

Hope this answers your question. B)

AAI....We REALLY appreciate your info! ......So don't get me wrong. A few years ago at DAP a couple guys were canned presumably for giving out too much "Information" over on BON (Blue Oval News). So just be carefull out there. Only a few more weeks...man this is great!

That goes along with what my dealer says only 7 thru the end of 2004. They are a 2000+ inventory dealer. Ours is on list as their #6 mustang, so I,m told.
